西部地区失地农民就业问题研究

在快速发展的西部地区,由于土地征用导致失地农民逐年增加。因此,失地农民就业问题的凸显成为了人们关注的焦点,针对这一问题通过对失地农民就业的现状及原因分析提出了一些有效的解决方法,以提高失地农民的就业能力,解决他们的贫困问题。     

Appearance-related consumption among dating,cohabiting and married consumers: a comparison between men and women

This paper explores press releases, a neglected area of retail and marketing research, from leading British supermarket retailers over a two-year period to December 2002. Major themes for press releases are found to be products and services, corporate social responsibility, and corporate affairs and performance, although individual retailers show different emphases. A stakeholder engagement approach demonstrates how the releases seek to build networks of common interest, which is particularly demonstrable in relation to support for British farming and charitable activities. However it is noted that both these could be considered “easy targets”, grateful for any support they can obtain.     

Employee Relation Programs and Hotel Performance

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of employee relations programs (ERP) on organizational performance in the lodging industry. ERP provides employees with opportunities to participate in planning and improving work-related tasks. Four items were used to measure employee relations: formal complaint-resolution programs, participation programs, attitude surveys, and suggestion systems. Further, three types of organizational performance measures, namely employee turnover, labor productivity, and revenue per available room (RevPAR) were used. Findings indicated that ERP led to higher labor productivity and RevPAR.     

Liquidity constraints,productivity, employment and output: evidence from non-agricultural activities in Bangladesh

This paper examines the role played by liquidity constraints in determining non-agricultural employment, labour productivity and output among poor, landless households. The hypothesis that the provision of credit to poor non-agricultural households on reasonable terms can greatly enhance labour use, and output, thereby reducing poverty is empirically investigated using survey data from rural landless households in Bangladesh. The study's findings indicate that even small amounts of credit on reasonable terms can substantially enhance labour use and income for poor households and that the impact is greatest for the poorest households.     

Currency Undervaluation and Economic Rebalancing towards Services： Is China an Exception？

The present study investigates the main determinants of the employment share of the service sector using a panel of 66 countries over the period 1983–2007. Based on alternative measures of currency misalignment, the study extends the literature by investigating the impact of an undervalued currency on services. The empirical findings show that together with productivity and income per capita, currency undervaluation significantly determines the total employment share of services. Another key finding is that conventional crosscountry determinants and the exchange rate undervaluation can only partially explain the underdevelopment of services activity in China and in other South‐East Asian countries. In these countries, policies that aim at rebalancing the economy towards services should include elements to reform the domestic financial market, and the social security and healthcare systems.

劳资关系研究的理论脉络与进展

随着经济体制、社会结构和发展方式的多重转型,中国已经逐渐步入现代社会发展的高风险阶段。而劳资关系在社会经济结构变迁中扮演的关键角色以及在风险社会发展过程中的重要影响作用,使相关主体之间的矛盾与冲突问题成为了当前最为突出的社会经济问题之一。为有效协调劳资关系、控制社会风险、构建和谐社会,有必要对国内外劳资关系研究的主要理论成果进行回溯检视。本文分别从经济学、管理学、社会学三个不同的学科领域梳理分析了国外劳资关系研究的理论脉络,其中,着力解析和阐发了马克思经典的劳资关系理论;归纳提炼了国内学者对我国劳资关系的特征、劳资冲突形成的原因、劳资关系中政府行为问题以及工会问题研究的最新进展,并在比较分析的基础上对国内外劳资关系理论研究及未来趋势进行了简要的述评。     

Student employment and academic performance: an empirical exploration of the primary orientation theory

This study empirically assesses the thesis that student employment only hurts academic performance for students with a primary orientation towards work (versus school). To this end, we analyse unique data on tertiary education students’ intensity of and motivation for student employment by means of a state-of-the art moderation model. We find, indeed, only a negative association between hours of student work and the percentage of courses passed for work-oriented students. This finding may explain the contradictory results in the literature neglecting this factor.
