我国征信管理及制度建设探析

近些年来,我国的经济实践表明,市场经济与金融的发展离不开征信管理;征信管理制度建设,更是确保征信管理工作科学、规范、有效运行的保证。对起步较晚的中国征信管理而言,应通过颁布《征信管理条例》等信用法规,修订现行的有关法律法规,完善征信管理制度。

Model uncertainty and the effect of shall-issue right-to-carry laws on crime

In this paper, we explore the role of model uncertainty in explaining the different findings in the literature regarding the effect of shall-issue right-to-carry concealed weapons laws on crime. In particular, we systematically examine how different modeling assumptions affect the results. We find little support for some widely used assumptions in the literature (e.g., population weights), but find that allowing for the effect of the law to be heterogeneous across both counties and over time is important for explaining the observed patterns of crime. In terms of model uncertainty, we find that there is substantial variation in the estimated effects for each model across all dimensions of the model space. This suggests that one should be cautious in using the results from any particular model to inform policy decisions.     

Mixture representations for discrete Linnik laws

In this paper we give mixture representations for the discrete Mittag–Leffler and Linnik laws. Our results form the discrete analogues of the mixture representations for the generalized symmetric Linnik distribution obtained by P AKES (1998). As an application, we derive the infinite divisibility of mixtures of Mittag–Leffler distributions. Alternative mixture representations in terms of discrete stable distributions are also presented.

Patent Protection, Transnational Corporations, and Market Structure: A Simulation Study of the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry

This study examines the role of patent protection on the behavior of transnational corporations and market structure in the Indian pharmaceutical industry. The method of analysis is the calibration of a theoretical model to firm-level data from two therapeutic groups of the Indian pharmacy market, and a simulation analysis asking the hypothetical question of what the market structure would be if India granted patent protection to pharmaceutical products. The model developed for the simulation analysis explicitly accounts for the complex demand structure for pharmaceutical goods that results from the presence of therapeutic substitute drugs, and product differentiation among chemically equivalent drugs.
