When suppliers lose in a competitive tender process, they need feedback to make accurate sales loss attributions and adjustments to their competitive strategy. Unfortunately, buyers seldomly provide sufficient feedback to enable diagnostics, learning, and adaptation. The purpose of this research is to explore a buyer's debriefing as an effective feedback mechanism. Based on data from a sample of 218 U.S. government source selections, a new construct, debriefing quality, is developed as a multi-dimensional construct comprised of: proposal efficacy information, procedural compliance and decision understanding information, and competitive intelligence information. Results show that debriefing quality enhances procedural justice and internal and external attributions and reduces supplier opportunism and perceptions of buyer opportunism. Further, the underlying procedural justice of the source selection deters bid protests, and debriefing quality can impact perceptions of procedural justice. Importantly, debriefing quality is essential in the assignment of loss attributions to strategy, thus affecting strategy change. These findings expand attribution theory by identifying new external attributions particular to a business-to-business context, namely suspicion of buyer opportunism and procedural justice. The study closes with specific information buyers can provide to suppliers to mitigate bid protests and help suppliers learn from the tender enabling future strategy improvements.  相似文献

In the last decade, the demand for sustainable and social investments has improved. The mutual funds industry has responded to market needs by offering a number of investment products focused on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) companies. The aim of this article is to understand if an ESG score can actually be considered a valid criterion that portfolio managers could adopt, along with traditional risk–return optimisation, in selecting asset portfolios. The paper analyses the link between the performance and the ESG score of different sectoral portfolios (one for each sector of the Global Industry Classification Standard), entirely composed of ESG assets, in the search for a clear and strong positive correlation that could suggest an overall advantage to focus on an ex ante choice of assets with high ESG scores.  相似文献

Given the widespread contribution of independent contractors to organizational innovation and competitive advantage, it is timely to reassess assumptions about the HRM practices appropriate to their management and the rationale for organizations to work with them. In the original and highly influential HR architecture model of Lepak and Snell (1999), contractor status is viewed as an outcome of the low value and/or low uniqueness of human capital resulting in the proposition to externalize and manage them using either none or minimal compliance-based HRM practices. Developments in digital technologies and algorithmic management epitomized by online labor platforms prompt us to reconsider these assumptions and to challenge the proposed links between value/uniqueness of human capital, employment mode and HRM practices that are assumed by the HR architecture model. Using insights from online labor platforms, we argue that the significant benefits to firms of working with contractors, coupled with the possibilities offered by algorithmic management to efficiently monitor and regulate their behavior, provide a compelling reason for organizations to choose external employment modes even when workers are key to value creation. We challenge the alignment and stability of the relationships proposed by the HR architecture model, and offer propositions to extend the model by reconsidering the rationale for, and nature of, HRM practices associated with contractors. This reassessment is both timely and relevant given the growing prominence of business models where externalizing workers is central alongside the development of new forms of algorithmic human resource management to control them.  相似文献

This paper aims to improve the predictability of aggregate oil market volatility with a substantially large macroeconomic database, including 127 macro variables. To this end, we use machine learning from both the variable selection (VS) and common factor (i.e., dimension reduction) perspectives. We first use the lasso, elastic net (ENet), and two conventional supervised learning approaches based on the significance level of predictors’ regression coefficients and the incremental R-square to select useful predictors relevant to forecasting oil market volatility. We then rely on the principal component analysis (PCA) to extract a common factor from the selected predictors. Finally, we augment the autoregression (AR) benchmark model by including the supervised PCA common index. Our empirical results show that the supervised PCA regression model can successfully predict oil market volatility both in-sample and out-of-sample. Also, the recommended models can yield forecasting gains in both statistical and economic perspectives. We further shed light on the nature of VS over time. In particular, option-implied volatility is always the most powerful predictor.  相似文献

采用豪斯道夫(Hausdorff)分维模式,利用2002和2003年成渝经济区各等级城市非农业人口、社会商品零售总额、国内生产总值(GDP)、第一产业产值、第二产业产值、第三产业产值等6个指标对成渝经济区城市体系的分形特征进行研究。结果表明,成渝经济区城市体系的规模结构较为分散。除第一产业外,经济区内各城市在非农业人口、社会商品零售总额、国内生产总值(GDP)、第二产业产值、第三产业产值方面存在着较大的等级差异。针对这一现状,提出了完善和优化成渝经济区城市等级规模结构的对策建议。  相似文献

随着新经济的到来,知识越来越成为企业快速响应市场机遇和获取竞争优势的最短缺资源。而企业自身知识资源的有限性使企业越来越多地采用虚拟企业的高级形态——知识联盟型虚拟企业来弥补企业知识资源的不足以快速响应变化的市场需求。首先对知识联盟型虚拟企业的知识缺口类型进行研究和划分,然后分析并描述虚拟企业生命周期各阶段的知识活动;在此基础之上,探讨虚拟企业组建阶段考虑知识要素的伙伴选择过程;最后,针对不同的知识缺口,提出伙伴选择过程的评价指标体系设计中应考虑的知识性因素。  相似文献
