This article examines how children collectively appropriate brands as cultural resources. From the New Childhood Studies perspective, an ethnographic study was conducted in schools to investigate the engagement of 10- to 11-year-old children in brand culture. The findings demonstrate that, through a process similar to Corsaro’s model of interpretive reproduction, children do not simply reproduce brand culture; instead, they actively use branding to fuel their peer culture. Mastering and manipulating brands are thus sources for integration or exclusion within the peer group and for differentiation from the adult world. We show the paradoxical impacts of branding on children’s well-being and participate in the debate on their vulnerability to marketing by highlighting how they deploy brand culture to interact in their social spheres, with the consequence being that their would-be empowerment remains entangled in the “brandscape.” Last, we contribute to a better understanding of the concept of culturally based brand literacy.  相似文献

Listing as a whole refers to reorganize all the enterprises' businesses, establish a stock corporation and increase capitals to list by issuing social public shares. TCL Group and Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corporation have set a good example for other groups of enterprises that have parts of their assets listed, and will guide groups of enterprises which are affiliated to the center authority of China to list their assets. Listing as a whole, is beneficial to make clear the complex share-holding relationships between the group and its affiliates. It will also be beneficial to improve the whole structure of corporate governance, decrease the correlation trade, reduce the information disclosure cost, and solve the problem of the correlation trade between the group and its affiliates. However, it is far beyond the standard of what standardized corporate governance requires. Standardized corporate governance at least possesses two factors: One is the equality of the rights of shareholders, namely the same share with the same rights; the other is the clear rights boundary of the stakeholder and the existence of the efficient mechanism of equilibrium of rights. These two factors do not have the necessary relations to whether the group list as a whole or not, but depend on the maturity of the market and the soundness of the law and regulation.  相似文献

This article emphasizes the importance of behavioral considerations at individual, organizational, and environmental levels of analysis when researching and evaluating the design, implementation, and use of group decision support systems (GDSS) within complex organizations. Discussion is based on interview and archival data collected on an executive level GDSS used within a corporate setting. Issues that are considered generalizable to organizational computing, coordination, and collaboration technologies concern (a) viewing organization participants as strategic, intuitive information processors, (b) understanding the importance of organizational power, politics, and situational constraints on decision making, and (c) appreciating the symbolic value of advanced information technologies to an organization's external environment.  相似文献

An Asynchronous Learning Network (ALN) is a Computer-Mediated Communication System designed to support "anytime/anywhere" interaction among students and between students and instructors. A field experiment compared groups and individuals solving an ethical case scenario, with and without an ALN, to determine the separate and joint effects of communication medium and teamwork. Dependent variables include quality and length of the reports, and subjective perceptions of learning and satisfaction. The results indicate that that an ALN enhances the quantity and quality of the solutions to an ethical case scenario. The combination of teamwork with ALN-support increases the students' perception of learning. Although the perception of collaborative learning was similar between ALN-supported and unsupported groups, participants in computer-mediated groups reported lower perceptions of discussion quality than participants in manual groups.  相似文献
