This paper investigates market behaviors (such as volatility, depth, and volume) and order-flow decomposition in a pure limit order futures market, the Taiwan Futures Exchange. The results are different from those in equity markets due to relatively high adverse selection costs in futures markets. We show that a volatility (depth) increase is followed by a depth (volatility) decrease; a market order increase (decrease) subsequently induces higher (lower) volatility; and a limit order increase (decrease) results in more (less) market orders and limit orders. When the upside (downside) volatility rises, buyers decrease (increase) subsequent limit bid orders, and sellers increase (decrease) limit ask orders. 相似文献

How open search strategies align with firms’ radical and incremental innovation: evidence from China

The purpose of this paper is to describe the ways in which open search strategies (i.e. open search breadth and open search depth) align with firms’ radical and incremental innovation. By analysing survey data collected from 162 firms in Chinese high-tech markets, we found that a firm pursuing radical innovation benefits more from open search breadth than open search depth to achieve its performance goals; in contrast, a firm processing incremental innovation benefits more from open search depth than open search breadth to improve its performance. Based on these results, managers should pay attention to the fit between open search strategies and radical/incremental innovation. This study not only contributes to the studies of search strategies by identifying the parallel relationship of open search strategies and two types of innovation, but also enriches the theory of open innovation with an empirical analysis. 相似文献

In this paper we revise the psychic distance postulate of the Uppsala Model (Johanson and Vahlne, 1977, 1990) by injecting
more recent findings (i.e., distinguishing between selection of foreign markets and time needed to achieve sufficient penetration
in foreign markets and the role of social capital). The model we propose posits that a higher psychic distance decreases the
speed of market penetration. On distant markets, internationalizing technology-based ventures need more time to establish
a position in the foreign network and to obtaining positive cash flow. Our model presents social capital as a mean to overcome
the psychic distance and to increase the speed of market penetration. We build our model on four case studies on technology-based

This study’s primary objective was to provide a better understanding of gay consumers’ clothing involvement and fashion consciousness. Personal in‐depth interviews were conducted with 13 gay professionals in Canada. One hundred and forty‐five usable survey questionnaires were also collected from gay consumers. The Fashion Involvement Index Scale (FII scale) was adapted for this study. Interview participants indicated that, in general, gay men tend to be more fashion conscious than heterosexual men. Survey results also indicated two dimensions, fashion interest and fashion awareness that were found to be stronger for this group of gay consumers than for heterosexual men. The FII value for the survey participants also resulted in a sum score mean value of 11.2, a medium level of fashion involvement that is a slightly higher level than has been found for heterosexual consumers. Interestingly, this study does not provide strong evidence of gay consumers’ involvement in cutting‐edge fashion trends. 相似文献

ABSTRACT It can be seen that the Internet penetration rate in China has undergone a dramatic increase in the past three years. Beginning in June 2002 China became the third largest user of the Internet in the world following the U.S. and Japan. The Internet penetration rate in China has increased 61.0 percent from June 2001. This study provides a language comparison of Chinese versus non-English speaking Internet users by comparing Chinese Internet usage to: Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Scandinavian, Italian, Dutch, Korean and Portuguese. The four forecasting models to predict future Internet penetration in this study are: the Linear Trend Model, the Quadratic Trend Model, the Exponential Trend Model, and the S-Curve Trend Model. The study provides various forecasts of Internet penetration in China including dial-up and leased line Internet users. The forecasted results indicate that the Chinese speaking Internet user population will be the largest population by the end of year 2005 among all of the selected ten non-English speaking language Internet users' populations. The forecast of nearly 16 million leased line users reveals the necessity involved with choosing the correct leased line connection in China. These forecasts should be useful with respect to conducting electronic commerce with the China Internet market. The design of multi-language Web sites in order to conduct international Internet commerce is also analyzed. 相似文献
