Central–local collaboration in regulating food safety in China

This paper analyses how China's inter-governmental arrangements have functioned in different ways to reduce food risk. While there is greater transparency, consistency, and inclusiveness in the process of setting food safety standards than in the past, the central government has almost exclusive power over these standards. Local governments are mainly responsible for gathering timely information and enforcing standards. This institutional design has redistributed costs for both the food producers and regulators alike, and enhanced public participation.

近期,关于引入境外战略投资者是否会影响中国金融安全的讨论颇多,但研究者在讨论时所使用的金融安全概念较为模糊,不利于正确理解两者之间关系。本文从界定金融安全的概念入手,澄清了金融安全的学术含义及当前人们所关心的金融安全问题,之后对目前引进战略投资者的情况进行介绍,通过对我国的引资政策和相关数据的深度分析得出结论,认为不应该对中国金融安全过分担忧,而阻碍通过引入境外战略投资者促进银行业改革的战略。

Chinese Vegetable Safety Administration Problems, Causes and Countermeasures

From the perspective of the entire vegetables supply chain, i.e. ＂from field to table＂, this paper systematically analyzes the main causes to affect vegetable safety of China. The gap between Chinese vegetable safety administration and that of developed countries is then described. Based on the experiences of vegetable safety administration the developed countries, countermeasures are forwarded to facilitate Chinese vegetable safety administration.

Food consumption and political agency: on concerns and practices among Danish consumers

Increasingly ordinary individual consumers are expected to perform some kind of societal or political agency. In the debates about political consumption it is a recurrent topic to what degree consumption practices can be seen as political practices and how many consumers perform such practices. The aim of this article is to empirically qualify the demarcation of the political in individual consumer activities by integrating the concept of political agency in the definition of political consumption. On the basis of empirical results from a representative survey among food consumers in Denmark, the article suggests that by supplementing the criteria of consumers performing specific consumption activities with a criteria of consumers expressing political agency, a more precise empirical delimitation of political consumption can be achieved. Three groups of food consumers are identified: those who perform political consumption practices; those who perform politicized consumption practices; and those who vocalize the discourse of political consumerism.
