Food consumption and political agency: on concerns and practices among Danish consumers

Increasingly ordinary individual consumers are expected to perform some kind of societal or political agency. In the debates about political consumption it is a recurrent topic to what degree consumption practices can be seen as political practices and how many consumers perform such practices. The aim of this article is to empirically qualify the demarcation of the political in individual consumer activities by integrating the concept of political agency in the definition of political consumption. On the basis of empirical results from a representative survey among food consumers in Denmark, the article suggests that by supplementing the criteria of consumers performing specific consumption activities with a criteria of consumers expressing political agency, a more precise empirical delimitation of political consumption can be achieved. Three groups of food consumers are identified: those who perform political consumption practices; those who perform politicized consumption practices; and those who vocalize the discourse of political consumerism.

存款保险制度作为一国金融安全网的重要组成部分,已被越来越多的国家采用。我国在建立和运行存款保险制度时,应吸取它国的经验教训,并结合国情在目标确定、管理模式和基础结构等方面进行具体的制度设计,并且采取相应措施防范存款保险制度的缺陷。     

EU Requirements for Food Safety and Quality Systems in Turkey: Determinants of Perceptions

Abstract

The European Union (EU) is one of Turkey’s most important trade partners. A large number of Turkish agri-food processors, however, are still unable to produce in accordance with the EU specifications. Furthermore, it is uncertain how Turkish food producers perceive the EU regulations. Based on a questionnaire survey of 99 Turkish agri-food enterprises from various industry subsectors and a conceptual framework including knowledge, personal and economic perspectives, this article assesses perceptions of the EU requirements regarding food safety and quality systems in the Turkish agri-food industry. The results indicate that those perceptions vary widely among the processors depending on education level, firm size, and legal form of ownership. Moreover, subjective information related to the perceptions regarding advantages, requirements, and costs of food safety and quality practices significantly contributes to the perceptions examined. The findings have manifold implications which should be taken into account when adapting Turkish legislation to reflect EU regulations.

农村留守儿童的社会环境安全及保护模式——以浙江省为例

本文分别从人身安全、心理安全、网络安全三个维度研究了浙江省农村留守儿童的安全现状。研究结果显示:浙江省农村留守儿童的人身安全存在隐患,安全意识明显不足;亲情感缺失和人际交往存在困境;而在互联网时代下,其网络受骗、结交网吧不良社会人士等也较为明显。最后,从人身安全、心理安全和网络安全三者结合的维度构建了浙江省留守儿童的社会保护模式。
