Legitimizing the apprenticeship practice in a distant environment: Institutional entrepreneurship through inter-organizational networks

This paper asks how Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) engage in institutional entrepreneurship to successfully transfer the organizational practice of apprenticeship-based training from Continental Europe to the distant host environment of the United States. In our case study, we highlight the important role of inter-organizational networks to coordinate engagement with the cognitive, normative, and regulative pillars of host country institutions. This networked form of institutional entrepreneurship involves the formation of inter-organizational networks for the purpose of bringing about institutional change collaboratively. In the process of transferring apprenticeship, a particular vision of workforce training was created, support gathered, and institutional change was sustained locally around the issue of training. We argue further that networked institutional entrepreneurship is a useful strategic tool to overcome the particular kind of institutional distance between the institutional settings of more coordinated market economies (CMEs) and more liberal market-oriented economies (LMEs). We contribute to existing knowledge by showing how practice transfer is shaped by particular kinds of institutional distance, and highlighting the role of inter-organizational networks as a way of governing collective agency associated with institutional entrepreneurship and the emergence of new local proto-institutions.     

Public-private collaboration for disaster risk management: A case study of hotels in Matsushima,Japan

This research paper focuses on public-private collaboration for disaster risk management in coastal destinations, particularly between the hotel industry and local government. To guide its research, this paper applies collaborative planning theory in developing a research framework to discover gaps between stakeholders attitudes towards collaboration, its outcomes, and obstacles preventing the adoption of specific hotel-based disaster management actions. A case study is used on Matsushima, Japan, a popular coastal destination in the Tohoku Region, which was devastated by the 2011 tsunami. Through surveys and interviews, this study found that hotels can play a key role in working together with the local government towards disaster risk management of coastal destinations. However collaboration gaps between the stakeholders limited the extent of the adoption of hotel-based disaster risk management initiatives.     

Stock price reactions to stock dividend announcements: A case from a sluggish economic period

The 2007 financial crisis and the Great Recession that followed resulted in a loss of confidence among investors, and regaining their full trust and confidence has been a challenge for companies. Although economic growth has been volatile throughout the postwar World War II period, recent growth (2008–2015) has been remarkably weaker than in the previous low-growth period (1974–1995). The 2006–2015 period is often characterized by sluggish economic growth. This study investigates stock price reactions to stock dividend announcements, 30 days before and after the announcement dates, of publicly traded companies in the period 2006–2012. We use an event study methodology for 460 events and daily stock price data for companies in the CRSP historical data set. The study shows a significant reaction in stock prices around the event date. On average, stock prices reacted positively to stock dividend announcements. However, compared to previous findings of abnormal returns (5.9%), results from this study show small abnormal returns (about 1.81%) attributable to stock dividend announcements that are cumulative of the announcement day and up to 3-day post-announcement days. Our estimates are even lower than the 2.01% stock price reaction obtained in the 1987–1996 period.     

Service-oriented,sustainable, local food value chain – A case study

Many developing countries depend on tourism as their main engine for economic development, but sustainability is often a concern. In the absence of inter-sectorial linkages between tourism and other industrial sectors, opportunities for trickledown benefits to host communities are stymied. For decades, researchers have been contending with issues related to strengthening agriculture and tourism linkages as a strategy to maximize economic linkages. This service-oriented approach to the local food supply chain is posited as a new model in which agriculture and hotel linkages can be advanced. We collected data about local food hotel supply through interviews with key stakeholders. The findings from our exemplary case study confirm that strengthening inter-sectorial linkages have benefits for stakeholders. This case study suggests that there are opportunities for tourism policies that foster local food linkages with high-end accommodation properties as a strategy to spread the economic spin off from tourism and also to encourage youth involvement in sustainable tourism development.     

Business Strategy at the Base of the Pyramid

The design and implementation of base of the pyramid (BoP) solutions or products require multinational companies to make adjustments to their business strategies and processes. While this strategic opportunity has been argued for in BoP related publications, a 'traditional' strategic management perspective has not been applied. This paper aims towards using the strategic management process as an analytic framework for case studies at the BoP, allowing analysis of which aspects are particularly critical for achieving respective solutions. This includes reaching sustainability related objectives. A total of seven cases covering both products and services have been researched, allowing a contribution towards the applicability of strategic management in respective situations. Further, the importance of specific strategy process elements is assessed. While it seems obvious that strategic management thought can be applied, the analytic criteria put forward (i.e. company, initial need, motivation, external analysis, stakeholder, product/service, strategic choice, organizational implementation, supply chain, economic outcome, effects on sustainable development) are particularly geared towards the BoP solutions. While previous literature centres on analysing needs, the case based research provides the insight that aspects of internal organization, supply chain management and sustainability outcomes are of equal importance. 高职院校全日制自考生学习动机调查及对策建议

通过采取问卷调查、访谈调查的方法,对重庆市部分高职全日制自考生的学习动机现状等几个方面进行了调查,通过调查发现,高职院校全日制自考生学习动机受到多方面因素的影响,具有性别差异、文理差异、年级差异、学业成绩差异,同时具有职业化、功利化的特点,对此提出了相应的建议。     

公开选拔党政领导干部制度有效性的文献综述

公开选拔党政领导干部制度作为干部人事制度的重要组成部分,其有效性问题值得我们关注,将这一问题分解为＂公开选拔制度能做什么＂和＂公开选拔制度做了什么＂问题分别从规范研究和经验研究两个方面,对相关研究进行综述,通过分析,可得出＂公开选拔制从应然状态是非常有效的,但是从实然角度来看其作用有限,因此该制度有效性上无法作出定论＂的结论。因此,未来研究框架是将应然状态看作是公选制度的收益,将实然状态中的各种因素视作是公选制度的成本,进而通过成本收益的方式来分析公开选拔制度的有效性问题。     

《电子产品生产工艺与管理》课程学习情境教学设计的实践探索

本文以应用电子技术专业核心课程"电子产品生产工艺与管理"为例,对学习领域课程如何进行描述从能力和学习内容方面进行了叙述;对学习情境设计应遵循的原则以原来设计的学习情境改进到现在设计的学习情境为例进行了解释说明;对学习情境教学设计以一个学习情境为例从学习目标、主要内容、教学方法建议、教学实施设计、教学资料工具、考核与评价六个方面进行了描述,并对学习情境任务书、引导文设计进行了归纳性的阐述。通过实践检验,效果很好。
