市场需求和竞争对供应链绩效的影响

假设市场需求函数是线性的,分析了两种情形下供应链间的价格竞争。在第一种情形中,供应链是集中式决策的;在第二种情形中,供应链是分散式决策的,即制造商和零售商独立进行决策。研究了不同的价格竞争水平和潜在市场需求对供应链成员绩效的影响,结果表明,在一定的价格竞争水平下,潜在的市场需求变异系数能决定分散式供应链是否优于集中式供应链。     

基于消费者绿色偏好的异质产品竞争的两级供应链研究

在消费者对绿色产品存在偏好的背景下,研究了由一个绿色制造商、一个普通制造商和一个零售商构成的供应链的在集中决策和分散决策中的运营机制问题,并分析了绿色减排投资系数、消费者偏好以及价格竞争程度对供应链成员利润造成的影响,并得到供应链成员的利润、零售价格、批发价格、绿色水平和绿色投资系数负相关,与消费者偏好系数呈正相关。绿色产品和普通产品的价格竞争对零售商有利,却对制造商产生负面影响。     

Measuring DEA efficiency in cable television network facilities: what are appropriate criteria for determining the amounts of governmental subsidies?

Recent technological developments have transformed the cable television industry (CATV) from a simple re-transmitter of terrestrial broadcasting to a provider of a broader-band information infrastructure. With cable operators facing an undesirable market situation while operating a fiber optics network vital to the creation of an information-based society within Japan, the Japanese Government has introduced several supportive measures for the industry. Such governmental intervention should desirably be justified not only from a political viewpoint but also from an economic one; otherwise such measures may distort economic efficiency. In this article, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), the authors identify the deficiencies of an accounting-based intervention scheme and propose an alternative framework with no disincentive side effects.     

Urban density and pupil attainment

We explore the association between urban density and pupil attainment using three cohorts of pupils in schooling in England. Although—as widely recognised—attainment in dense urban places is low on average, this is not because urban environments disadvantage pupils, but because the most disadvantaged pupils with low average attainments attend the most urbanised schools. To control for this, we exploit changes in urban density faced by pupils during compulsory transition from Primary to Secondary school, and measure educational progress at the end of the Secondary phase, relative to attainment at the end of Primary schooling. Our results suggest that there are small but significant benefits from education in schools in more densely urbanised settings. We detect this density advantage even amongst pupils moving relatively short distances between Primary and Secondary schools within urban areas, so we cannot attribute it to broad urbanisation effects experienced by pupils making rural–urban school moves. A more likely explanation lies in greater school choice and competition between closely co-located educational providers.
