论避税港的认定及反运用避税港避税立法

运用避税港避税已成为国际避税的重要形式。世界各国和国际社会都愈来愈重视对这种避税形式的防范和打击。但目前国际上关于避税港的认定标准并不统一,这在一定程度上影响了对运用避税港避税活动的规制。西方国家关于反运用避税港避税立法,对我国相关制度的完善具有十分重要的借鉴意义。     

Japan’s return to gold: Turning points in the value of the yen during the 1920s

We identify turning points in the value of the yen during the 1920s to determine which factors were perceived by market participants as affecting Japan’s probability of returning to the gold standard. The 1920s were marked by military expansionism, political turmoil, and other dramatic political and institutional events. We conclude that changes of power between the Kenseikai and Seiyukai parties and worsening diplomatic relations with China were primarily responsible for turning points in the value of the yen. The democracy movement and the associated expansion of suffrage seem not to have been viewed as important by contemporaries.     

Comparing Ranking and Contingent Valuation for Valuing Human Lives, Applying Nested and Non-Nested Logit Models

The aim of this paper is to investigate whetherrespondents perceive a discrete-choice contingentvaluation (DC-CVM) question differently from a rankingquestion. We combine the two approaches to valuepublic projects that try to prevent people from dyingprematurely. The combined valuation procedure enablesus to investigate the internal consistency of theutility structure between choices, applying nested andnon-nested logit models. If the preference structureis allowed to shift, the relative utility weights ofthe attributes differ between the valuation questions,and the willingness-to-pay (WTP) estimate from thecombined procedure changes.

Pricing of New Securities in an Incomplete Market: the Catch 22 of No-Arbitrage Pricing

There are two distinctly different approaches to the valuation of a new security in an incomplete market. The first approach takes the prices of the existing securities as fixed and uses no-arbitrage arguments to derive the set of equivalent martingale measures that are consistent with the initial prices of the traded securities. The price of the new security is then obtained by appealing to certain criteria or on the basis of some preference assumption. The second method prices the new security within a general equilibrium framework. This paper clarifies the distinction between the two approaches and provides a simple proof that the introduction of the new security will typically change the prices of all the existing securities. We are left with the paradox that a genuinely new derivative security is not redundant, but the dominant pricing paradigm in derivative security pricing is the no-arbitrage approach, which requires the redundancy of the security. Given the widespread practice of using the no-arbitrage approach to price (or bound the price of) a new security, we also comment on some justifications for this approach.     

Cucina Roma

Focusing on a client organization wanting to outsource its food services, this case provides the opportunity for students to analyze the issues from the perspectives of both the outsourcing company and the food service company (Cucina Roma). The client wants employees to increase their use of the café in order to improve employee morale, productivity, and work‐life balance. The Cucina Roma case requires students to use a budget to dynamically plan tactics that will encourage employees to use the company café. Students are tested for budgeting and planning, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The challenge for students is to convert the qualitative analysis into numbers.
