On Mixed and Compound Mixed Poisson Distributions

Recursive formulae are derived for the evaluation of the t-th order cumulative distribution function and the t-th order tail probability of compound mixed Poisson distributions in the case where the derivative of the logarithm of the mixing density can be written as a ratio of polynomials. Also, some general results are derived for the evaluation of the t-th order moments of stop-loss transforms. The recursions can be applied for the exact evaluation of the probability function, distribution function, tail probability and stop-loss premium of compound mixed Poisson distributions and the corresponding mixed Poisson distributions. Several examples are also presented.     

Why high productivity growth of banks preceded the financial crisis

The high levels of operating efficiency, profits, and market values for banks in the years before the financial crisis raise reasonable doubts about the accuracy of the assessments of the efficiency of banking intermediation. We examine the productivity growth in Spanish banks in the pre-crisis period by separating out the contributions to productivity growth from business practices and from industry-wide technological progress. We find that more than two thirds of the estimated productivity growth in the years 2000–2007 is attributed to banks’ practices, such as the expansion of credit in the housing market, the high recourse to securitization and short-term finance, the reduction in liquidity holdings, and the leveraging process of banks’ balance sheets, that the literature claims are the ultimate causes of the crisis. We estimate that the remaining cumulative annual growth rate is 2.8% for the industry’s technical progress, which is similar to that in the period of 1992–2000.     

Public involvement in flood risk management in Hungary

The increasing frequency and intensity of recent floods and their economic, social, and political impacts created a situation in Hungary where flood management strategies need urgent reconsideration. Research suggests that in the case of natural disasters of uncertain and changing character, public education, information, participation, and cooperation are particularly important tools for coping. Drawing on the data collected by two recent empirical studies, this paper investigates state-of-the-art public involvement in flood control activities in Hungary. Results of a questionnaire survey and a series of semistructured interviews conducted in three flood basins of the Tisza river indicate that although the highly centralized system of flood control, and especially its strong financial background, a characteristic of state socialism, has significantly weakened since the political transition, forms of public participation, which could reduce the risk by building on a more conscious and responsible attitude of the citizens, have not developed yet. Paternalist and elitist attitudes prevail on the part of the authorities, contributing to the passivity of the public. There are signs, however, that in certain places, local government leaders take responsibility for building communication networks to raise public awareness and mobilize the public more effectively.     

我国自驾游与自助游网站的功能综合评价初步研究

自驾游与自助游市场已经成为一个新兴的市场,目前我国学者对其研究尚比较少。旅游市场大致可分为三块：团队旅游、商务旅游和自助游。团队旅游的中间平台是旅行社;商务旅游的中间平台是旅行社或预订性网站;而自助游市场的中间服务平台目前处于探索建设阶段。本文从互联网上选取21个自驾游与自助游网站,按照4大功能指标体系对自驾游与自助游网站的现状和问题进行分析研究、评价,并提出相应的对策或建议。     

欠发达县域经济增长因素决定及其发展方式转变研究——安徽省北部地区县域的经验分析

结合我国欠发达县域实际情况,通过扩展卢卡斯内生增长模型,构建欠发达县域生产函数并选取变量,运用安徽省北部地区16个县相关变量的面板数据,对欠发达县域的经济增长因素进行实证研究。结果表明：劳动力和产业结构对于欠发达县域经济的增长有着显著的正效应;固定资产投资、农业资源禀赋,以及人力资本投资虽然对欠发达县域经济的增长效应为正,但是这种效应比较小;而制度因素对于欠发达县域经济的增长在一定程度上起到了抑制作用。最后基于这些实证结论,并针对欠发达县域经济目前存在的主要问题,提出了欠发达县域经济如何转变经济发展方式,实现跨越式发展的若干政策建议。     

我国财务公司的现状及营运策略

我国自1987年建立第一家财务公司，在10余年的时间里，财务公司已有了很大的发展，在我国企业集团的发展过程中发挥了重要作用，但与国际财务公司相比，还有很大差距。从我国财务公司的现状出发，分析了其目前所存在的问题，国际发展趋势以及加入WTO我国财务公司所面临的新挑战，并提出了相应的对策。     

企业社会经济功能观发展演变研究

企业社会经济功能观经历了从古典观到社会责任观和公民责任观的发展演变过程,该过程也是公众企业社会经济功能预期不断累加和多元化的过程。古典观单纯强调经济责任,社会责任观要求企业承担社会责任,公民责任观赋予企业政治行动主体身份。这三种观点并非相互排斥和对立,稍后形成的社会责任观与公民责任观是对古典观的修正和扩展。企业和公共管理部门应关注和回应企业社会经济功能观的演变。     

商贸物流探析

2011年初,商务部、发展和改革委员会、中华全国供销合作总社发布《商贸物流发展专项规划》.这是一部针对最近若干年的专项规划,不是一部长期、具有战略性的全面规划,它主要针对内需,对总揽全局的《物流业调整和振兴规划》进行完善和补充,对我国商贸流通意义重大.这项规划一开始就对商贸物流作出了界定,但该界定的表述过于具体,在学术严密性方面还有欠缺,不如更为笼统、原则一些为好.本文指出,商贸物流是商贸活动重要的组成部分,商贸活动决策必须在考虑购销价格因素的同时重视物流价格因素.商贸物流不是一般的被动型服务,它对商贸活动具有能动的支持作用甚至起着决定性的作用,它可以支持商贸活动的一般、正常运行;可以提升和优化商贸活动;可以提升对用户的服务水平,扩大市场;可以降低商贸企业的成本和流通费用;可以使城市的产业结构发生变化;可以使城市规划的科学性进一步提高;可以改变城市在地区、国家甚至全世界的战略地位;可以引导和扩大消费,促进生产;可以帮助解决资源不足地区的经济发展问题;有利于改善地区就业问题,提高财政收入.文章进一步指出,创新对商贸物流具有非常重要的意义,应进一步推动商贸物流创新.     

中国保险业全要素生产率变动的Malmquist指数分析——一个新的视角

本文从保险功能的视角出发,使用Malmquist指数方法研究了1999年～2006年中国保险业全要素生产率的变动情况。研究发现,中国保险业全要素生产率有明显提高。比较而言,寿险公司好于非寿险公司;股份公司好于国有公司;合资公司好于外资和中资公司;国有保险公司改革成果显著。全要素生产率提高主要得益于技术进步和技术创新,规模效率出现衰退,追求规模发展对中国保险业意义重大。     

A New Technical Progress Function (1962)

Abstract. In this paper, I show that labour‐saving or capital‐saving technical progress is induced by the distribution of income between capital and labour. In the long run, technical progress is Harrod neutral. The long‐run equilibrium factor income distribution is determined by a parameter of the technical progress function.
