国家股比例对上市公司市场表现的影响研究

本文通过逻辑回归和线性回归模型,结合我国深沪两市的上市公司数据,对影响公司市场表现的因素进行了分析。在文中考虑的众多财务和股权指标中,国家股比例显著地影响了公司2003年被"ST"的可能性大小。同时,国家股比例对每股收益和市倍率这些对投资者预期产生重要影响的指标没有显著作用。本文有助于投资者理性的评估国家股在上市公司市场表现中的影响,避免盲目卷入国家股减持题材的股市炒作。

Evolving national park models: The emergence of an economic imperative and its effect on the contested nature of the ‘national’ park concept in Northern Ireland

National park models have evolved in tandem with the emergence of a multifunctional countryside. Sustainable development has been added to the traditional twin aims of conservation and recreation. This is typified by recent national park designations, such as the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland. A proposed Mournes national park in Northern Ireland has evolved a stage further with a model of national park to deliver national economic goals envisaged by government. This seeks to commodify the natural landscape. This paper compares Cairngorm and Mourne stakeholders’ views on the principal features of both models: park aims, management structures and planning functions. While Cairngorm stakeholders were largely positive from the outset, the model of national park introduced is not without criticism. Conversely, Mourne stakeholders have adopted an anti-national park stance. Nevertheless, the model of national park proposed possessing a strong economic imperative, an absence of the Sandford Principle as a means to manage likely conflicts, and lacking any planning powers in its own right, may still be insufficient to bring about widespread support for a Mourne national park. Such a model is also likely to accelerate the degradation of the Mourne landscape. Competing national identities (British and Irish) provide an additional dimension to the national park debate in Northern Ireland. Deep ideological cleavages are capable of derailing the introduction of a national park irrespective of the model proposed. In Northern Ireland the national park debate is not only about reconciling environmental and economic interests but also political and ethno-national differences.     

The role of technology development in national competitiveness — Evidence from Southeast Asian countries

Technology development (TD) plays a key role in national competitiveness (NC) by giving a country a competitive edge in our age of information. Lots of researchers have focused on specific areas of TD, such as technology transfer, technology acquisition, and technology management, in most of developed countries. To our knowledge, however, they have seldom discussed the influence of TD on other categories of NC and vice-versa in developing and less-developed countries. In this study, we examine the influences of each category of NC of TD. Southeast Asian countries are divided into three patterns by means of a cluster analysis. The results show that Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Laos have the same rank on measures of TD and NC. Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Laos have the same rank on measures of TD and Economic Performance. Malaysia and Thailand have the same rank on measures of TD and Management Capability. In contrast, the TD performance of Southeast Asian countries is worse than the human resources performance because of their insufficient human resources assigned to R&D. Furthermore, based on a strategic grid for comparing the relative performance, four types of country and their achievements are discussed. Singapore outperforms all Southeast Asian countries. Malaysia and Thailand have to leverage their TD resources in order to enhance their NC. The other countries are still hindered in developing the determinants of their NC. Finally, our study offers a path to the identification of how countries of each pattern should supplement their insufficient capabilities, and what are the most important issues that need to be addressed in retuning their TD policies in order to enhance their NC.     

THE PRIVATE FINANCING OF NHS HOSPITALS: POLITICS, POLICY AND PRACTICE

This article outlines and critiques the main fiscal and economic rationales for the Private Finance Initiative and examines the impact of the policy on the long-term financial viability of NHS trusts. It concludes that the PFI funding of capital investment is highly problematic. Its high costs can have a negative impact on the finances of health systems.

本文从资产状况、盈利状况、业务结构和成长性四个方面对我国主题公园上市公司经营状况作了比较分析。各公司之间经营情况存在明显差异,但都存在接待人数和门票收入增长乏力、收入结构单一等问题。最后提出了主题公园上市公司可持续发展的若干对策。     

Electronic Commerce and the State Retail Sales Tax: A Challenge to American Federalism

Electronic commerce, by magnifying problems with the existing sales tax, has precipitated reexamination of basic precepts of fiscal federalism in the United States, not just taxation of remote sellers. This paper examines: key features of electronic commerce; the Internet Tax Freedom Act and the Commission it mandates; tax assignments in the United States; problems in assigning sales taxes to subnational governments; constitutional impediments to requiring remote vendors to collect sales and use taxes; tentative findings of the National Tax Association's project on taxation of electronic commerce; and implications of the current debate over taxation of electronic commerce for intergovernmental fiscal relations in the United States.

This article establishes the availability of statistical information in Mexico. A good statistical information system is a necessary, not a sufficient condition for economic and social development.     

Errata to “Gold shocks, liquidity, and the United States Economy during the National Banking Era” [Explor. Econ. Hist. 35 (1998) 381-404]

This note draws attention to an important data error that is at the center of our paper “Gold Shocks, Liquidity, and the United States Economy during the National Banking Era” (this journal 1998). The gold stock series we used was compiled from the annual reports of the US Treasury, which contains a large drop between May and June, 1907. This drop was an error. We redo our original statistical work with a revised series. Our results are robust to the new gold stock series.     

重要商品的对外贸易风险成本初探

对外贸易风险成本主要是由于国家或企业在贸易中的不适宜行为而引起的相关成本。它不仅仅局限于进出口贸易中的某些行业和产品,而且涉及到各个行业和各种产品。本文以煤炭和石油为例,分析了净出口品与净进口品的对外贸易风险成本问题,以及我国现阶段重要商品对外贸易风险成本的主要表现形式。
