Analysis of Indonesia's Market Position in Palm Oil Market in China and India

The objective of the study is to analyze the competition between palm oil with its substitute and between Indonesia's and Malaysia's palm oil in China and India. An import demand equation using Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) is constructed. The result indicates that Indonesia's palm oil is more elastic in China and India. Moreover, in China, Indonesia's and Malaysia's palm oil complement each other.     

Social relationships and knowledge creation: the mediate of critical network position

The purpose of this study is to examine the roles of the two important components of intellectual capital, including social relationships and the critical network position in knowledge creation. Two regression models were used to test the hypotheses in a sample of 77 knowledge creation samples. The findings of this study contribute to the theoretical development of a conceptual model for explaining the inter-relationships among the aspects of intellectual capital and knowledge creation performance. The empirical evidence of the Sobel test, in line with Baron and Kenny's procedure, supports the process-oriented view and indicates that the network position would mediate the effects of social relationships on knowledge creation performance.     

境内人民币银行卡清算组织的反垄断法监管--基于“强制推行POS直联”案例的研究

中国银联是目前我国境内唯一的人民币银行卡清算组织,应预防和制止其滥用基础网络业务的市场支配地位排除、限制发卡和收单等竞争性业务领域的竞争。本文在论证《反垄断法》对中国银联的适用性基础上,着重分析中国银联强制推行POS直联的垄断行为本质,指出其涉嫌滥用基础网络业务的市场支配地位,实施了拒绝交易和搭配销售。制止中国银联的垄断行为,保护市场公平竞争,不仅需要理清反垄断法监管与中国人民银行监管的关系,还要剥离纵向一体化企业“银联商务”。

Assessing market dominance

We propose a new measure to assess market dominance. Contrary to concentration measures such as the Herfindahl–Hirschman index that characterizes the concentration of an industry, our dominance measure suggests an approach that classifies when an individual firm has a dominant position. In our measure, the criterion for dominance is relaxed as the intensity of existing competition increases or as entry barriers are lowered. We apply the dominance measure to a number of well-known competition cases.
