Geographical Proximity and Mutual Funds' Proxy Voting Behavior

This paper examines the influence of geographical proximity on mutual fund proxy voting decisions. Using mutual fund proxy voting data for the sample period July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004, we find that fund managers vote more in favor of management of locally headquartered firms. The results are strong for proposals related to executive compensation, anti‐takeover provisions, social and political issues. We provide evidence to show that bias in proxy voting is not being driven by informational advantage; voting bias is prevalent in small as well as large size companies. Additionally, the voting pattern suggests that geographical proximity does not facilitate in better corporate monitoring as revealed in their voting decisions. We find that local fund managers vote more favorably in those proposals which do not increase shareholders' wealth and rights. Our results suggest that familiarity and social interaction between fund managers and firm executives located in the same geographic area might explain the local bias in mutual fund proxy voting behavior. 随机变量概念引入的教学探讨

分析引入随机变量概念的步骤和随机变量概念产生的意义,提出从以下四个方面来引入和支持随机变量概念的学习：一是用数来表示事件;二是对比表示事件的两种方法,显示数量表示方法的优越性;三是随机变量概念的提出使概率研究从个别概率问题计算拓展为随机变量的分布规律研究;四是随机变量概念的提出使分析工具得以运用.     

因子分析法寻求物流企业市场细分变量的研究

物流企业选择合适的细分变量对准确细分市场以及制定营销策略有着非常重要的作用。本文利用因子分析法,从众多的可用细分变量中寻找出具有代表性的物流企业市场细分变量,为物流企业的市场营销管理提供参考。     

考虑属性关联的不确定语言变量R-TOPSIS模型

采用不确定语言变量进行决策是有效反映客观事物的复杂不确定性以及人类思维的模糊性手段。针对多属性决策问题中属性之间具有相互关联作用这一问题,在引入加权决策距离矩阵和Choquet积分构建了一种考虑属性关联的R-TOPSIS语言决策方法。最后结合案例说明该方法的决策过程以及该方法的可行性和有效性。     

多元化战略程度与企业绩效实证研究

目前我国企业,尤其是中小企业的多元化经营过程中,跨行业成长并没有给其带来绩效的提高。本文结合我国中小板上市公司的数据及现状,提出了多元化战略程度与绩效相关的两个假设。其次,为了验证该假设,本文对假设中的概念进行操作性变量的定义,最后提出具体的模型并进行实证分析。     

外国直接投资对我国进出口规模的影响——基于虚拟变量、协整及格兰杰检验的实证研究

本文根据1980-2004年我国出口、进口和外国直接投资的数据,利用虚拟变量、单位根检验、协整检验、格兰杰检验和建立回归模型等方法,就外国直接投资对我国外贸进出口规模的影响进行了实证研究和度量,得出结论:外国直接投资对我国的进出口规模具有促进作用,1996年后随着利用外国直接投资结构的不断优化和调整,在促进外贸增长的贡献效用上也有了大幅度提升,最后提出了相应的政策建议。本文的创新点在于使用虚拟变量衡量定性因素,在建模前进行了充分的前提检验,以保证模型是稳定和有效的。     

Pearson type VII ratio distribution

In modern decision-making processes, ratios or indices of stochastic variables are commonly used criteria. The decision criterion is, however, frequently presented as deterministic despite the fact that sampling has been the dominant collection method for the data underlying the measure. This paper derives the exact distribution of |X/Y| when X and Y are independent Pearson type VII random variables. We provide an application of this result to the exchange rate data of the six major currencies. Some computer programs for use in the applications are also provided.
