How would compliance with dietary recommendations affect revenues for agricultural producers?

Nutritionists and other health experts have recommended a range of dietary plans, and these often differ significantly. Although the USDA food guides have been the most visible in the United States, other dietary plans now are achieving greater public recognition. Our analysis extracts the nutrient recommendations for seven dietary plans and models the recommendations as shifts in demand for the nutrients. Demand shifts for nutrients are combined with nutrient composition shares to simulate the revenue implications in selected agricultural markets. Based on current consumption patterns in the United States, we find that compliance with Harvard’s Healthy Eating Pyramid would generate the greatest revenue gains for specialty crop producers in California.

云南省新差旅费管理办法解读与高校执行建议——以云南省高校为例

新差旅费管理办法的出台极大地规范了云南省高校公务出差的管理,提高了公务出差的实效性,是全面深化改革,特别是深化教育领域综合改革、加快推进教育治理体系和治理能力现代化的重大举措。如何更好更规范地执行新差旅费管理办法是当前我省高校急待解决的问题。本文结合新旧差旅费管理办法和云南省高校实际,对新差旅费管理办法"三提两严一放"进行了详细解读,并提出了云南省高校在制定本校相关差旅费管理实施细则或实施办法时应当明确的事项,供高校同仁参考。     

Inside the “Black Box” of Sell‐Side Financial Analysts

Our objective is to penetrate the “black box” of sell‐side financial analysts by providing new insights into the inputs analysts use and the incentives they face. We survey 365 analysts and conduct 18 follow‐up interviews covering a wide range of topics, including the inputs to analysts’ earnings forecasts and stock recommendations, the value of their industry knowledge, the determinants of their compensation, the career benefits of Institutional Investor All‐Star status, and the factors they consider indicative of high‐quality earnings. One important finding is that private communication with management is a more useful input to analysts’ earnings forecasts and stock recommendations than their own primary research, recent earnings performance, and recent 10‐K and 10‐Q reports. Another notable finding is that issuing earnings forecasts and stock recommendations that are well below the consensus often leads to an increase in analysts’ credibility with their investing clients. We conduct cross‐sectional analyses that highlight the impact of analyst and brokerage characteristics on analysts’ inputs and incentives. Our findings are relevant to investors, managers, analysts, and academic researchers.     

政治关联、分析师跟踪与中小企业投资效率——-以制造业为例

选取我国制造业中小板上市公司２００７—２０１１年数据,首先利用数据包络分析对企业投资效率进行定量评价。进而运用Ｔｏｂｉｔ模型考察企业政治关联、分析师跟踪及其交互作用对企业投资效率的影响。研究表明：自２００７年以来,我国中小企业投资效率呈现波动性变动,但总体而言逐步提高。国有中小企业政治关联与投资效率显著负相关。而非国有中小企业政治关联与投资效率正相关但并不显著。作为一种外部治理手段,不论在国有企业还是非国有企业,分析师跟踪均能显著提高企业的投资效率。政治关联与分析师跟踪的交互作用可以提高企业投资效率。国有企业中,二者对投资效率的影响呈现一种替代关系,而非国有企业中,呈现一种互补关系。     

关于退耕还林“十一五”政策建议——川贵两省退耕还林调研思考

截至2005年底,国家累计安排退耕还林900万hm2,荒山荒地造林1400万hm2,中央财政已投入1030亿元。退耕还林工程涉及全国1870个县、3200万农户、1.23亿农民。调研表明,退耕还林工作进展顺利,成效显著。为进一步发挥工程已逐渐显现的生态功能,切实解决退耕农户生计,应继续实施退耕还林工程,调整政策,区别对待,分别实行继续补助、延长年限、不再补助、产业扶持等政策,建立促进区域发展和巩固退耕还林成果的长效机制。     

Is Site-Specific Yield Response Consistent over Time? Does It Pay?

This study examines the profitability and stability of site-specific (SS) nitrogen fertilizer recommendations using an empirical model of SS yield response to controlled inputs, stable site characteristics, and time-varying weather factors. Using a three-year panel of on-farm corn yield experiments and new, continuous variables to describe site characteristics, both spatial and ordinary least squares regression models show clear evidence of SS corn yield response to nitrogen fertilizer. Yield response is predictable only on irrigated fields. Even there, bootstrapped confidence intervals for profitability gains on selected fields indicate that SS nitrogen application would rarely cover its costs.
