Abstract

This study looks at the group/convention cancellation policies of various U. S. hotels and how they are implemented. It first gathers general information about the cancellation policies that hotels are currently operating, then presents the differences in the group/convention cancellation policies of U. S. hotels in terms of property profiles, such as size, location, type of ownership/management pattern, and percentage of group/convention business in the property.  相似文献

With strong government support for the convention industry, several international-scale convention centers have been established in major cities in Korea. The convention centers have developed Web sites as an online marketing tool for meeting planners. The purpose of the study is to identify and compare the current performance level of the Korean convention centers' Web sites and to provide useful strategies to improve Web site performance. The results revealed that the Korean convention centers should improve the customer- and marketing-related aspects on their Web sites among four perspectives in Web site performance evaluation. Recommendations are made on how the Korean convention centers can improve the effectiveness of the Web sites.  相似文献

Abstract

There was one mega C&E center (over 50,000 square meters of indoor space) in China in 1992, totaling 160,000 square meters. By 2003, there were 16 mega centers, totaling 1,288,000 square meters-a growth of 805% in 11 years (Table 1). This paper records the history of the convention and exhibition (C&E) industry in China and examines the prevailing optimistic view of its prospects. The profit criterion and motives behind the establishment of C&E centers in China are explored. Potential developments are discussed and future research directions are identified.  相似文献

我国会展业在迅速发展的同时,也存在着诚信缺失的问题,改变会展业信用体系不完善、信用秩序混乱的现状,必须建立健全一套符合我国国情、与国际惯例接轨、适应现代市场经济发展的会展业信用体系.基本措施是通过政府立法建立完善的法律法规,增强监督和执法力度,提高失信成本;建立行业协会和企业数据库,使信忠公开,降低信息不对称的程度;通过学习、培训,树立从业人员正确的职业意识,视诚信为道德底线;增强宣传力度,提高消费者对不诚信现象的识别能力,减少企业失信收益.  相似文献

Utilizing Iso-Ahola’s (S. E. Iso-Ahola. The Social Psychology of Leisure and Recreation. Dubuque, IA: WC Brown Co. Publishers, 1980) seek and escape theory and social identity theory in the context of tattoo conventions, this study examines whether individual and group identity influences personal and interpersonal seeking and escaping motivations and whether these motivations influence an attendee’s self-enhancement and subsequent revisit intention. Based on an online survey (n = 350), structural equation modeling revealed that individual identity influenced personal seeking and escaping motivations, group identity influenced interpersonal seeking and escaping motivations, and personal seeking and interpersonal seeking and escaping motivations increased self-enhancement and ultimately revisit intention. Implications are provided for tattoo event managers based on findings.  相似文献

The tourism literature contains substantial discussions on how increasing numbers of attendees and conventions at a destination contributes to the local economy, but there is limited research on the environmental impact of the concomitant increases in air and other travel, and other activity increases in energy and other resource use. This research assesses the current environmental position of the convention industry in the United States and formulates suggestions for future direction in regard to “green” concepts by examining and comparing the perceptions, attitudes, and behavioral intentions of three groups of convention stakeholders: convention attendees, meeting planners, and convention suppliers. This empirical study recognizes the critical problem of inadequate understanding of the environmental impact of convention activities and the lack of knowledge regarding ecological convention practices. It shows that the perception of environmental impact among the three groups varies depending on which environmentally friendly practices are available to each group. It discusses the background to – and the implications of – the emotional formation of decisions and self-motivation based on positive attitudes and the strong intention to adopt green management practices agreed to by convention stakeholders.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

An increasing number of communities are actively considering the construction of a convention center. Rather than being a 1-step, build or not build process, the convention center decision process is multi-stepped. Many of the decisions that must be made in the process are complicated and have huge potential implications for existing lodging facilities and other industry and non-industry players. Further, because the process includes numerous steps, the entire process is often very time-consuming. The author used a variety of sources to suggest the elements that should be considered when thinking about the construction of a modern convention center for a community.  相似文献
