COVID-19 has significantly impacted expatriates, affecting their ability to work effectively and their personal and family lives. This study explores their experiences in different phases of the pandemic, and their perspectives on the future of international living in light of such global disruption. Involving over 600 expatriates in 48 countries, the research shows shifts in motivation and priorities as a result of the crisis and reveals how family (extended and immediate) topped expatriates' concerns. The study examines if and how support systems worked and looks at coping mechanisms, skills, traits, previous experience, and attitudes which participants found useful. A common theme was “falling between two stools”—where expatriates were ineligible for support in either their home country or in their host country. Others described being “pulled in different directions” or “torn by a dilemma” with pros and cons in either choice. The study contributes to the questions about the future of global work with results of the survey revealing changing norms for expatriation and global mobility raising the possibility of more nuanced approaches to global projects and less binary options for global professionals and their families. 相似文献

The article estimates matching functions – the relationships between new hires, job vacancies and unemployment – using monthly time series data for Sweden. The data contain rich information on types of job vacancies which provides information on firms’ recruiting efforts. 随着旅游实践不再被看作是一种非同寻常的实践活动,而是一种日常实践活动,对旅游的认识也不应被束缚在传统的现代性框架之中,而需借助旅游发展史,揭示当代旅游实践自身的当代现实特征,并回归到其最初的实践形态--一种特定的移动方式,从而将思之方向落在旅游实践的建构意义之上,探讨旅游实践的日常化对于生活世界来说有何种新的建构意义。因此,当代旅游实践的反思和批判应当经历一次还原,将旅游从启蒙叙事中解救出来,悬搁已有批判,并将旅游放入移动性框架之中,通过惯常-非惯常背景、权力背景、生存背景和目的性假设4个层级还原出旅游实践的基本内涵。在一种最为基础的层面上,旅游实践在移动性中获得了日常化后的新含义,基于此,可对当代旅游实践的新特征和建构意义进行再认识。 相似文献

This study examines the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on employee engagement and job satisfaction. Using 322 responses from employees of selected companies in Ghana, and employing hierarchical regression analysis, the study examines the direct impact of economic, legal, ethical and discretionary CSR practices on employee satisfaction and engagement in organisations. The study further explores the moderating role of employee age on the relationship between CSR and employee engagement and satisfaction. The results provide evidence that economic, legal, ethical and discretionary CSR practices influence higher employee engagement and satisfaction levels at work. However, the study finds no evidence of employee age moderating the association between each of the four CSR dimensions and employee job attitudes (engagement and satisfaction). These findings are insightful and provide a response to calls for research on these issues. The study contributes to the literature by demonstrating that ethical CSR practices strongly influence employees' satisfaction and engagement levels; legal and discretionary CSR activities also have an influence, though to a lesser extent; and the economic dimension of CSR activities has the least impact. Travel mobility has attracted considerable attention from tourism scholars. Studies have extensively discussed discovering key (i.e., collective) movement patterns. Recently, the advancement of information technology has allowed tourism researchers to obtain detailed information regarding travel digital footprints. This study, which analyzes mobile sensor big data, proposes a data mining approach to measure the similarity of travel trajectories by performing a pair comparison of individual trajectory. This method considers the spatial and temporal dimensions of travel flow to help identify trajectory similarity across individual travelers. Considering graph theory, this research also applies graph-based spatiotemporal analytics to identify important insights from complex travel mobility networks. As a result, this study suggests an innovative approach to assess travel trajectory similarity, which can be regarded as a type of data-driven clustering method. 农村环境治理关乎乡村振兴的成效,农户的参与与否及其参与程度直接影响着农村环境治理的成效。基于农村人口流动的现状,对福建、安徽、陕西三省的529位农户进行了调查,采用双栏模型检验家庭人口流动对农户环境治理支付意愿及其支付额度的影响程度。结果表明,人口流动对农户环境治理支付意愿有显著的负向作用,而对农户环境治理支付额度有显著的正向作用。此外,不同省份区域人口流动对环境治理支付意愿的影响机制不同。 相似文献

This study examines how foreign direct investment (FDI) affects domestic employment by using unique division-level data of Japanese firms. Contrary to most previous studies focusing on the effect of FDI on net employment growth, we decompose it into job creation (JC) and job destruction (JD) for each individual firm. We find that FDI destination plays an important role: FDI to Asia increases JC, whereas FDI to Europe/North America decreases it; furthermore JD decreases, regardless of FDI destination. A frictional search-and-matching model with heterogeneous jobs can explain the differential effects. The model provides additional predictions on JC and JD by job type, which are also empirically confirmed. 相似文献
