Premium setting and bank behavior in a voluntary deposit insurance scheme

This study analyzes the effect of premium rates on banks’ incentives to join a deposit insurance scheme and their incentives to invest in risky projects under a voluntary deposit insurance scheme. We find that in order to maximize social welfare, the insurance agency must either set the premium rate to be low so as to attract all banks to join the insurance scheme, or not to have the deposit insurance at all. However, the low premium rate in the voluntary scheme does not balance the budget of the deposit insurance. We also show that in the compulsory deposit insurance scheme, however, it is possible to impose an optimal premium rate that can balance the insurance agency’s budget and achieve the highest social welfare. The results also present the dominance of the compulsory scheme over the voluntary scheme in terms of maximizing social welfare and balancing the budget.

私利与公益的协调是可能的吗——斯蒂芬·杨“道德资本主义”经济伦理观解析

经济伦理学要追求私利与公益的和谐的、协调的统一。斯蒂芬.杨提出以道德资本主义的经济伦理观来有效协调两者的关系,对人们颇有启发。道德资本主义提倡将私利投入公益,践行者要有＂考虑整体的自我利益＂的意识。现实经济生活中有效地结合了私利与公益的成功企业,对于终结贫困的重大价值,道德资本主义本身所具有的最佳结合了超越性之理想与现实性之欲念的特点等为道德资本主义提供了可能性。考克斯原则是目前全球范围内践行道德资本主义的范例。但是,道德资本主义要真正落到实处还必须大力培养有原则的商业领导。     

The Effect of Pricing and Advertising on Customer Retention in a Liberalizing Market

This study investigates the drivers of customer retention in a liberalizing market. The authors address key retention issues that allow them to contribute to existing retention research in several critical ways. They (1) examine the effects of pricing and mass advertising, (2) account for (new entrants) competitors' actions, (3) investigate the dynamic impact of marketing tactics, and (4) study the proposed relationships in a market recently opened to competition. Using longitudinal data for a sample of 650 mobile phone consumers and a split-population hazard model that accounts for the notion that some customers are never at risk of defection, the authors show that both the focal firm's (incumbent) and the competitors' price and mass advertising exert a significant influence on the probability of terminating an existing incumbent relationship. They find that the relationships between marketing variables and retention are not static but vary over time. Price is generally less effective in the early stages of market liberalization, which suggests that customers become more price sensitive in later stages. Finally, the study findings can have important strategic implications on designing customer management and marketing resource allocation strategies, as well as on providing a competitive regulatory framework in liberalizing markets.     

弘扬传统道德 培育现代民族精神

中华民族传统道德源远流长,根基深厚,随着社会的进步与发展虽然出现过曾经的暗淡,但这只是短暂的现象,人们心中的优秀道德传统从来都没有泯灭。我们应适应时代的发展,适时弘扬传统道德、培育现代民族精神。     

“三生教育”是学校德育的重要内容——以语文教材中的“三生教育”为例

人类社会在21世纪创造了巨大的物质财富,人类不论是在经济方面,还是在政治方面,其水平都得到了极大地提高。但是,人类的精神文明、思想道德水平并没有得到相应提高。本文笔者就以语文教材中的"三生教育"为例探讨了"三生教育"在学校德育中的重要性。     

构建大中小学一体化德育教育模式

德育是全面发展教育中的主导部分,德育包括小学、中学、大学三个阶段,这三个阶段的本质属性是相同的,但在不同的阶段应体现不同的层次和要求。德育教育应沿着"活动--体验--领悟--内化"的路向,实现由接受道德到体验道德、发现道德、建构道德的飞跃。为此,笔者提出在小学阶段应通过情感教育接受道德,中学阶段应通过体验教育领悟道德,大学阶段应通过践履内化构建道德的一体化德育教育模式。     

数学教学中德育渗透的功能及途径

学生的道德观、人生观及科学态度的树立及培养是数学教育德育功能的体现。本文通过分析数学教育德育的功能及实施途径,使数学教育显示其德育价值。     

基于道德成本的道德环境建设

良好的道德环境能促进经济建设,增强社会凝聚力,保持社会的和谐、稳定和发展。建设良好的道德环境,需要优化制度环境、文化环境、社会风气,还要加强道德实践载体建设。
