Fostering entrepreneurship in distressed urban neighbourhoods

During the last decade entrepreneurship research has focused increasingly on spatial aspects of entrepreneurship. Many systematic studies have been conducted on the national or regional scale, although other geographical scales—cities and their single districts and neighbourhoods—have drawn less attention. In this context, the paper aims, firstly, at identifying spatial success factors of entrepreneurial activities and their promotion at the local scale. Secondly, the paper aims at contributing to the development of a conceptual frame at the interface of entrepreneurship research, urban and economic geography, and regional economics. Empirically, the paper draws on results from explorative case studies in two distressed urban areas.     

For the greater good: business networks and business social responsibility to communities

Business networks (co-operative arrangements between independent business organizations) may be the signature organizational form of the contemporary global economy. Many policy-makers and local leaders advocate business network membership as an alternative development strategy for regional economic vitality. The extant literature on business networks has focused on their association with business success. However, little is known about their impact on other aspects of community life. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the role of network membership on one non-economic dimension of the business community interface. We examined the relationship between business network membership and business social responsibility to communities, defined as the provision of leadership and support for community betterment projects. Data were gathered from telephone interviews with a random sample of 460 non-metro small business operators in the USA. Independent t-tests and ordinary least squares regression analyses controlling for theoretically important variables were conducted. Findings show that networked businesses provide more leadership and support for their communities than non-networked businesses. However, networked businesses were no more likely than non-networked businesses to use local suppliers of goods and services.     

基于数据融合的自来水浊度检测方法

为了提高流动电流仪(SCM)对自来水浊度检测的精度,文章提出了一种基于神经网络数据融合技术的数据处理方法。该方法可以消除测量中的原水流量、供电电源波动、絮凝剂浓度、温度等干扰量对流动电流仪的影响,提高了测量的精度。     

湖南省生产性服务业就业吸纳能力的实证分析

运用就业弹性方法和投入产出方法,对湖南省生产性服务业的就业吸纳能力进行实证分析,结果显示：总体上湖南省生产性服务业就业吸纳能力强,就业增长空间较大;内部各行业对就业也具有较大促进作用,但各行业对就业的贡献程度存在差异.因此,加快生产性服务业发展对解决湖南省就业问题意义重大.     

利用供销社现存网络构建农村新型物流系统

尽管目前供销社的经营网点减少,经营业务缩简,但在组织架构、物资设备、服务体系和人才网络等方面的优势依然存在。充分利用供销社现存的网络,挖掘其网络潜力,对构建农村新型物流系统,拓展物流新功能,促进新农村经济建设具有重大的作用。     

Metatheory of network management: A contingency perspective

This paper introduces a metatheoretical, contingency-based framework of inter-organizational network management. We define four basic network management functions and suggest that they are universal to all inter-organizational networks. We argue that management tasks, derived from more general management functions and contingent upon network characteristics, differ according to network type. We further argue that the roles that different actors in a network can adopt depend on their resources and capabilities. The framework contributes to the emerging theory of network management by clarifying the connections between its different conceptualizations and layers. A clear implication of the framework is that it is fundamentally useless to argue that networks cannot be managed. Networks are being managed, all of the time. However, we agree that the extent to which networks can be managed differs from one network to another along with the managerial tasks employed.     

The predictability of security returns with simple technical trading rules

Technical traders base their analysis on the premise that the patterns in market prices are assumed to recur in the future, and thus, these patterns can be used for predictive purposes. This paper uses the daily Dow Jones Industrial Average Index from 1897 to 1988 to examine the linear and nonlinear predictability of stock market returns with simple technical trading rules. The nonlinear specification of returns are modelled by single layer feedforward networks. The results indicate strong evidence of nonlinear predictability in the stock market returns by using the past buy and sell signals of the moving average rules.

提出了在循环经济规则下,企业生产责任从产品生产,产品销售和售后服务向着产品的再使用,再制造,回收资源化和最终处置延伸中的产业组织的新结构与新机制。分析评价了产品寿命周期每一事件对环境产生的影响和影响程度。为实现产品寿命周期的环境负面影响最小化,认为企业必须实施清洁生产,在技术、设备和工艺流程上进行创新。为保证企业清洁生产的有效实施,提出企业必须建立ISO14001环境管理体系,在产品生产的组织和程序上落实和执行ISO14001标准,使ISO14001环境管理体系在企业产品寿命周期上为实施清洁生产,节能降耗和保护环境保驾护航。
