Bridging the academic–policy-making gap: practice and policy issues

How policy-makers engage with academics is both a current ‘hot’ topic and a perennial problem. Policy initiatives such as the Research Excellence Framework's (REF) so-called ‘impact agenda’ have ‘pushed’ academics towards seeking more such engagement, whilst others ‘pull’ towards it, such as ‘open policy-making’. Apart from some biographical accounts and case studies, surprisingly little is known at a more general level about how policy-makers do actually engage with academic research and expertise. Analysis of these policies, as well as empirical evidence from the British civil service, suggest these engagements may be generating more ‘endarkenment’ (to use Weiss's term) than enlightenment.     

高职院校服装专业教学与就业定位的思考

目前高职院校不断扩招,高校教学已由精英教学走向大众化教学,教学对象的扩展,必将面临就业之战,随着WTO的加入,服装就业形势喜人,如何在就业战中脱颖而出,对服装专业的教学提出了思考,本文从三方面提出了思考:1、穿针引线,抓“实在工程”;2、量体裁衣,定就业方位;3、订单加工,融教学与就业。     

‘Howzat’—how do artefacts without matter,matter? The case of decision review systems in professional cricket

It has been argued that the social and material worlds are increasingly entangled as they become mediated by and experienced through virtual representations of live events. Virtual decision review systems in professional sport provide an albeit unusual case study example of such developments where virtual (re‐)representations of events are increasingly used in match play to inform adjudicator decisions concerning ‘what really happened’. This has prompted an ongoing debate in many sports over both the accuracy and appropriateness of these technologies for representing events which are often fast moving and difficult to judge with the human eye. We explore these issues using a sociomaterial practice lens and indicate the broader relevance of the case for basing judgements and decisions on virtual views of reality.     

Accounting Community of Practice pedagogy: a course management invention for developing personal competencies in accounting education

This paper reports the findings of an exploratory qualitative study using the implementation of Wenger’s [(1998). Communities of practice: Learning, meaning, and identity. Organization, 7(2), 225–246] Theory of Communities of Practice to develop an Accounting Community of Practice (ACOP) pedagogy. Students from eight accounting courses who participated, in the120 narratives and 280 surveys used as data, practice and develop critical real-world professional accounting competencies by linking three structural foundations: (1) accountability to joint enterprise, (2) mutual engagement, and (3) shared repertoire of communal resources. ACOP strategy is effective in maintaining dynamic learning environments, increasing students’ awareness of trust, open communication, and creative thinking. Meaning and knowledge are owned in ACOP where the focus of the class shifts from instructor to students. This study adds to limited empirical research in communal forms of learning in accounting.     

井控安全监督的实践与创新

井控工作是保障井下作业施工安全的基础,如何保障井下作业安全平稳运行,处理好井控安全与生产进度、以及施工质量之间的关系,是摆在井下作业监督面前的一个重要的命题。通过对长庆油田采油一厂在井控安全监督管理方面的实践进行分析和总结,以各项制度为规范,通过现场督导、持续整改、责任追究等多种方式,紧扣井下作业生产各个环节,探讨和创新井控安全方面的监督方法,达到消减井下作业过程中的安全隐患、实现井控安全的目的。     

工程质量审计的逻辑起点和实务框架研究

传统的工程审计通常只关注对投资的控制和工程管理的合法合规性,而对工程质量关注很少。随着审计的转型,即从财务审计向管理审计转变,工程质量逐渐被纳入审计视野,在此基础上形成了工程质量审计范畴。本文拟从工程质量审计的逻辑起点开始,论证工程质量审计的必要性,并从质量管理体系的审计、质量形成过程的审计和质量验收的审计三个方面,对构建工程质量审计的实务框架进行初步探索。     

资源依赖还是战略制胜——来自非上市公司的证据

本文通过对233家中国非上市公司成长绩效的研究,揭示了战略与资源这两种因素分别对新创企业与成熟企业成长绩效的影响方式。结果显示,在新创企业中,战略对于企业成长绩效不存在直接影响,而是通过影响新创企业资源的转换效率提高其成长绩效。专用资源对新创企业成长绩效有直接作用,通用资源促进专用资源的形成,进而提高成长绩效。在成熟企业中,战略清晰度直接对成长绩效产生作用,通用资源与专用资源能够影响战略清晰度。研究结论丰富了创业理论与战略理论对于企业成长的理解,为进一步研究企业成长机制提供了新的视角。     

企业社会责任弹簧模型及其作用机理研究

近年来,企业社会责任受到越来越多的关注。本文认为企业社会责任已经成为可持续发展的要求,提出企业社会责任与社会责任期望之间存在的三个相关性假设。在此基础上,本文构建了企业社会责任弹簧模型,并从发展趋势和实践效果两个角度对企业社会责任的作用机理进行了详细分析。基于分析结论,本文提出企业在社会责任实践中要实现三个结合:与顾客价值相结合,与企业价值相结合,与企业目标相结合,使得企业社会责任成为推动可持续发展的重要力量。     

Experimenting in the cloud: The digital divide's impact on innovation

This paper builds on a recent National Science Foundation working paper that identified a strong association between cloud use and various types of innovation but did not consider whether 1) cloud adoption is a reliable indicator of the innovation orientation of a firm, or 2) cloud adoption enables various types of innovation. We estimate propensity score matching and endogenous treatment effect models to control for innovation orientation, producing evidence to test the second explanation. Findings support an enabling effect of the cloud on innovation providing concrete evidence of the adverse impact of the digital divide.
