This study examines (i) how top-level managerial institutional ties drive corporate sustainability strategies of emerging market firms operating under conditions of institutional adversity; (ii) the impact of corporate sustainability strategies on market performance; and (iii) the moderating role of financial resource slack on the relationships between corporate sustainability strategies and market performance. The study builds from institutional development logic and the structure–conduct–performance paradigm. Primary data are collected from 300 firms operating in a major sub-Saharan African market. Findings show that top-level managerial institutional linkages with regulatory national governmental officials, local community leaders, and top managers at other firms drive corporate proactive and responsive sustainability strategies, which in turn influence market performance. In addition, the findings reveal that financial resource slack strengthens the path between corporate proactive sustainability strategies and market performance, but not the path between corporate responsive sustainability strategies and market performance. Companies commonly issue sustainability or corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports. This study seeks to understand worldviews of corporate sustainability, or the corporate message conveyed regarding what sustainability or CSR is and how to enact it. Content analysis of corporate sustainability reports is used to position each company report within stages of corporate sustainability. Results reveal that there are multiple coexisting worldviews of corporate sustainability, but the most dominant worldview is focused on the business case for sustainability, a position anchored in the weak sustainability paradigm. We contend that the business case and weak sustainability advanced in corporate sustainability reports and by the Global Reporting Initiative are poor representations of sustainability. Ecological embeddedness, or a locally responsive strategy that is sensitive to local ecosystems, may hold the key to improved ecological sensemaking, which in turn could lead to more mature levels of corporate sustainability worldviews that support strong sustainability and are rooted in environmental science. Bridging ties are important for obtaining new information. However, when entrepreneurs try to bridge between two networks, they may face problems due to the variety of knowledge among individuals in both networks. In this paper, we argue that specific human capital is essential for interpreting new information and coordinating action when bridging between networks. In a sample of 70 Dutch academic spin-offs, our findings show that specific human capital increases the relative impact of bridging ties on early spin-off growth. This paper sheds light on the value of bridging ties for entrepreneurs and provides implications for practitioners. 相似文献

文章以企业员工为考察对象,探讨个人面临道德困境时的伦理决策意向。样态架构以道德成熟度为预测变项,功利导向性气候为情境变数,经由道德强度知觉影响伦理决策意向。实证资料采用问卷调查,假设验证主要以回归及ANOVA进行分析。研究结果发现:个人道德成熟度是经由道德强度知觉对伦理决策意向产生的影响效果,道德成熟度对道德强度知觉有正向影响关系;在人际亲疏关系为疏远的条件下,道德强度知觉对伦理决策意向具正向影响关系,功利导向性气候则会干扰道德强度知觉对伦理决策意向的影响。 相似文献

ABSTRACTThe authors tested the dynamics of collective action tendencies of student teams when trying to accomplish a shared goal, with a focus on the impact of member ties and team member interaction and emotional responses on team performance. The results show the direct and indirect impacts of both positive and negative group emotions on the student team members' ties, collective action tendencies, and the final performance of the team. 文章采用变差系数、基尼系数、首位度、赫芬达尔系数和位序规模理论,从旅游接待总人数和旅游综合收入两方面对2003-2011年中国17个旅游强县规模发展特征及其影响因素进行分析。研究发现:中国旅游强县旅游接待总人数相对差异减少,总体均衡;旅游综合收入起伏明显,呈波浪型变化,但相对差异较小,彼此竞争激烈。17个旅游强县旅游规模都在不断上升,但首位分布不是非常明显,差异不大,保持接近状态。旅游强县的总收入规模位序变化呈现稳定、波动、跨跃三种发展类型。研究得出:旅游规模差异和规模位序分布是在受多种因素的影响。其中,旅游资源禀赋和区位条件是先天基础,市场导向是外在动因,产业政策是重要导向,投资行为是重要动力。 相似文献

In the current Internet environment, many online service companies based on community factors (networks) produce and sell new types of digital products. For example, SNS (social network service) companies now sell customers digital decorative products for the adornment of online avatars. Not only do individual customers consume these digital products, but they also exchange them as gifts in their local neighborhoods. While previous studies on customer valuation (e.g. CLTV, RFM, etc.) focus on some important issues for identifying valuable customers, the literature does not resolve issues related to the effects on customer value of products purchased as gifts for another person. This study attempts to verify empirically the effects of two representative social network properties (tie strength and the number of ties) on customer monetary value.This study selects 2615 customers from a South Korean SNS website who enrolled on the site on the same day. Data include diverse purchase-related information, social network properties in terms of gift-giving for six months, and demographic information. The primary results of this study are as follows. First, the proposed model, which includes social network properties, has a great deal more explanatory power than the baseline model — the RFM-based customer value model. Second, tie strength and the number of ties in a gift-giving network increase customer value. Third, tie strength has a more profound impact on customer value than does the number of ties. The results of this study theoretically expand the domain of customer valuation studies due to the inclusion of social network properties, and suggest important practical implications for some online SNS companies in their efforts to find valuable customers and improve customer value. 相似文献
