Public-private partnership project success circumstances

The public-private partnership has been in use in the world for over 40 years, and has been growing at a varying rate and with mixed success in different countries. Based on the experience gained in selected countries, this article shows key success factors of the public-private partnership.

A mutual gains perspective on workplace partnership: Employee outcomes and the mediating role of the employment relations climate

Recent years have witnessed increased research on the role of workplace partnership in promoting positive employment relations. However, there has been little quantitative analysis of the partnership experiences of employees. This article examines how the kinds of attributions employees make regarding indirect (union‐based) and direct (non‐union‐based) employee participation in workplace partnership might influence the process of mutual gains. It uses employee outcomes to reflect partnership gains for all stakeholders involved (i.e. employees, employers and trade unions). The article contributes to existing knowledge of workplace partnership by examining the potential role of the employment relations climate as an enabling mechanism for the process of mutual gains. The findings suggest mutual gains for all stakeholders are varied and mediated through the employment relations climate.     

Ecomuseums as cross-sector partnerships: governance,strategy and leadership

Ecomuseums are attracting increasing attention as means of preserving heritage and also impacting positively on social and economic issues. This paper contrasts ecomuseums with previous forms of cross-sector partnerships. The authors focus on the governance, strategy and leadership of the Flodden 1513 Ecomuseum. The findings have lessons for ecomuseums and other cross-sector partnerships both in and outside the UK.

International transatlantic trade liberalization: zooming in on regional impacts

The current study analyses the impact on a Portuguese small island regional economy of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) between the EU and the USA. A dynamic Computational General Equilibrium (CGE) model detailing six household categories, 45 sectors, and four trading partners is used. Previous studies used aggregate variables and, largely, were based on the structure of the national economy. For a small, integrated economy, foreign trade statistics comprise an underestimation, given that most of the trade occurs through national logistics centres. Taking into account the national integration effects, gross domestic value was estimated to be higher than in other studies. Using equivalent variation, the estimated welfare impact is positive for all six household categories. Value-added suffers mixed impacts depending on the sector. It is negative for fisheries, ambiguous for agriculture and positive for tourism and transportation. The contribution of the current study is to highlight the importance of looking beneath the trade block and national conclusions particularly when regional economic policy is relevant as is the case in Europe. Better knowledge of welfare, regional and sector impacts allows for improved development and mitigation policies.     

我国会计师事务所过渡到合伙制的路径设想

会计师事务所组织形式的选择问题是近两年众多学者讨论的热点，然而，在现实中大多会计师事务所没有如学者们所设想的那样从有限过渡到无限，以提高审计质量。事实上，“无限责任制”在我国当前的社会环境条件下并不能有效发挥应有的作用，当务之急是在不断完善社会环境的过程中，改进“有限责任制”，从而有步骤地向“无限责任制”过渡。     

生产企业供应商关系管理研究

分析了生产企业实施供应商关系管理的必要性和重要性，为生产企业实施供应商关系管理提供了一个清晰的、有章可循的执行框架，并指出企业没有必要和所有的供应商都建立战略合作伙伴关系，企业与供应商的关系应该是多种关系共存的金字塔多层次型的结构。     

Real options in equity partnerships

We examine factors influencing the decision to acquire additional equity in partner firms in research‐intensive industries. This decision involves choosing between flexibility and commitment. Option theory motivates hypotheses regarding the effects of uncertainty, valuation of developing technologies, and the threat of preemptive rivalry. Our main hypothesis is that the resolution of uncertainty for high‐value technologies motivates commitment decisions. We also argue that when the underlying growth option is at risk of preemption by rivals, greater uncertainty encourages commitment. An event history model tests these hypotheses using data from minority investments in the biotechnology industry. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
