Destination development in China: towards an effective model of explanation

This paper addresses the dynamics of the evolution of a nature-based destination in China. Based on longitudinal studies in Zhangjiajie (Hunan Province), it focuses on the roles of institutions in tourism development in China, demonstrating the centrality of institutions and governments in fostering destination development through policy orientations, attracting investments and regulations in their capacity as producers, protectors and promoters of desired processes of change. It describes a five-stage development process from Exploration, through Starting and via Fluctuation and Acceleration to the current stage of Transition leading towards a Destination seeking Better Service Quality. The study, by incorporating institutions as a driving force, develops an RICI model (Resource, Institution, Capital and Innovation) accounting for destination development in China. The key role of policies implemented by local governments and the roles of institutions are critical in the process of its development, especially in the earlier stages, contrasting with many western countries, where the private sector and central government tend to dominate. The paper notes the role of inter-institution rivalries, and the impact of those rivalries on sustainable development. It is suggested that the proposed model could be empirically verified and tested in other cultural or regional destination development contexts.     

The Evolution of R&D Laboratories in the Brazilian Polymer Industry

ABSTRACT

Ronstadt observed that R&D laboratories in foreign subidiaries of American multinationals follow an evolutionary pattern of development. First, these laboratories adapt foreign technology to the local conditions and local raw materials. Later, laboratories focus their activity in obtaining product quality. In the last stage, these R&D units generate new technology of a long-term or exploratory nature for the corporate parent. Based on this theoretical background, this paper studies the evolution of R&D investments in polymer firms in Brazil. The methodology used was a case study conducted in 5 firms from the polymer area, complemented with secondary sources.

RESUMEN. Según Ronstadt, los laboratorios de I&D de las subsidiarias extranjeras de las multinacionales norteamericanas, cumplen un programa de desarrollo evolucionario. En primer lugar, estos laboratorios adaptan las tecnologías extranjeras a las condiciones locales y las materias primas existentes. A continuación, los laboratorios orientan sus actividades en obtener un producto de alta calidad. En la última etapa, estas unidades de I&D generan nueva tecnología de características a largo plazo o naturaleza exploratoria para la corporación matriz. Usando como base estos antecedentes teóricos, este documento estudia la evolución de las inversiones realizadas por las empresas de polímeros en el campo de la I&D en el Brasil. La metodología utilizada fue un estudio de caso realizado en 5 empresas fabricantes de polímeros, complementado con otras fuentes secundarias.

Primeiro, estes laboratórios adaptam a tecnologia estrangeira às condiç[otilde]es e às matérias-primas locais. Posteriormente, os laboratórios focalizam a sua atividade na obtenção da qualidade do produto. E, finalmente, estas unidades de R&D geram uma nova tecnologia para a matriz de natureza exploratória ou de longo prazo. Baseado nesta experiência teórica, este trabalho investiga a evolução dos investimentos de R&D em empresas de polímeros no Brasil. A metodologia usada foi um estudo de caso conduzido em cinco empresas da área de polímeros, complementada por fontes secundárias.     

Exploring the core factors of online purchase decisions by building an E-Commerce network evolution model

With the continuous development of the Internet and information technology, online shopping has become a popular purchase mode. The in-depth analysis of consumer decision-making in online shopping is an important issue. Our purpose is to study how the factors of the shopping web pages corporately affect online purchase decisions and determine which are the core factors that affect consumer purchase decisions. We screen the influencing factors on the shopping webpage and deploy e-commerce network evolution based on various weight combinations of these factors to generate sales distributions of online products. By comparing these simulated sales distributions to the real data, the optimal weight of each factor is obtained. The results show that sales volume and the number of high-quality negative comments are the most important factors influencing consumers' decision-making, the number of comments and the number of comments with pictures are relatively minor factors, store type and video presentation of the products have the least impact. The optimal simulated sales distribution is very close to the real case and verifies that the introduced network evolution technology is applicable. The proposed model can be used as a uniform evaluation platform for correlational study, which is an important link in the purchase research chain.     

Reconceptualizing value creation: Exploring the role of goal congruence in the Co-creation process

As companies gradually shift from the exchange view to the resource integration view, the creation of value also shifts from the customer sphere to the joint sphere. As a result, the customer and service provider are responsible for co-creating value through resource integration. However, it raises the question of whether customers are capable of contributing to the co-creation of value. Our study proposes a framework of how goal congruence plays a pivotal role in the resource integration process between all actors in the joint sphere. When the level of goal congruence between customer and service provider actors is high, it stimulates the exchange of valuable resources from all actors, which leads to the actual experience of co-creation resulting in value-in-use and improves service outcomes, i.e., customer satisfaction and loyalty. Data were collected through a field survey from salon-and-spa customers (n = 530) and PLS-SEM was employed to test the hypotheses and further analysis. The results show that goal congruence impacts customer satisfaction and loyalty through value-in-use. Therefore, suggesting service providers to properly socialize their goals will be a good strategy to increase customer capability to co-create value and ultimately enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.     

两权分离与公司治理的演进——英美经验与我国实践

公司治理的演进过程也是所有权和控制权以及经营权分离的过程。通过对英美国家公司发展不同时期两权分离的历史考察,发现两权分离与公司治理演进之间存在依存关系：两权分离依次经历了所有权和经营权分离、所有权和控制权分离、控制权和经营权分离和同股不同权等阶段,不同形式的两权分离带来不同的公司治理问题,从而产生相应的治理手段,推动着公司治理的演进。通过对中国企业改革和发展过程的历史回顾也证明了两权分离与公司治理之间存在共同演进关系。针对研究发现,最后提出了我国公司治理改革的方向性建议。     

国际商业银行监管模式演进及对我国的启示

随着世界银行业的变革和发展,银行规制理论和监管模式日趋完善.从世界银行业监管历史来看,国际商业银行监管模式渐渐由"刚性"、"半刚性"向"柔性"转化,先后经历了行政命令式、标准化方法、内部模型法、预先承诺法四个规制阶段.随着我国成功入世及银行业改革不断向纵深推进,现有银行监管模式将面临强有力的挑战.为此,加强银行规制理论研究,探索国际商业银行监管模式演进轨迹,对构建我国有效银行监管模式将起到重大启示和推动作用.

本文通过对二元经济结构刚性对农民工的约束以及伴随我国相关政策调整而出现的农民工回流分析,说明了农民工动态演化,并提出了促进农民工合理、有序流动机制的相关政策建议。     

廉租住房:制度演进、存在问题与政策

廉租住房制度是我国政府为保证市场经济背景下最低收入群体和低收入群体的住房需求而推出的保障性住房政策,是我国保障性住房制度体系中的重要组成部分。文章回顾了廉租住房制度的演进,分析了制度实施中遇到的问题,讨论了政策运行中的相关议题。     

大国治理逻辑下地方公共收入机制的构建——基于公共物品有效供给分析

分税制框架下的现行地方公共收入机制,无论从增长效应还是从公平效应看,其制度设计均不利于促成地方政府有效供给公共物品。基于大国治理逻辑的一个理论基石是,促成公共物品有效供给的地方公共收入机制,需要融合独立性财权与权力制衡机制。据此,结合受益原则与支付能力原则,利于公共物品有效供给的地方公共收入机制构建,应在不触动当前政府间财政制衡设计的框架下,围绕权力确定、来源清晰,负担落实、征管优势、适度弹性原则,注重财产税、使用者费、地方公债三大收入形式的运用,并借助制度调整来增强地方独立性财权。     

中国特色社会主义理论体系的世界历史语境解读

无论是中国特色社会主义理论体系的初步建构,还是对它的成熟形态和发展前途的解读,都不能脱离世界历史语境。在此语境下分析,中国特色社会主义理论体系的逻辑起点是社会主义的本质论,是关于人的解放和发展的理论。该理论体系的本质内涵包含三个方面,即人的解放和发展的方向．即进行现代化的建设;人的解放和发展的原则,即坚持社会主义;人的解放和发展的客观要求,即保持中国特色。从宏观层面分析,中国特色社会主义理论体系就是关于两制共存时代中国社会建设和发展的理论,它有着极大的发展空间,而当两制共存时代结束后,它必定在完成历史使命后退出历史舞台,届时也将会有新的世界性理论形态出现。
