Higher skilled working tourists and their leisure lifestyles: a qualitative study of guest language instructors in South Korea

Using interviews conducted with 24 higher skilled working tourists employed as guest language instructors in the Republic of Korea, this paper explores how working tourists could secure an optimal leisure lifestyle in their host countries. Three key findings emerged. First, the respondents were seeking casual, touristic, amateur, hobby and volunteer leisure with their colleagues and with their host community members. But, the rewards and episodic aspects of their leisure, including formal and informal language development, suggested that it incorporated variations in project-based leisure as a core characteristic. Second, these respondents were taking part in guest, host and leisure speech communities that were each offering leisure choices. However, their leisure lifestyle was best when leisure, second language development and acculturation coincided in a leisure speech community. Third, that in a leisure speech community, respondents’ acculturation and friendships improved more so than in either guest or host speech communities. Also, that these respondents’ formal and informal second language learning within their leisure speech communities was essential for an optimal leisure lifestyle. The paper determines that leisure speech communities, occurring along a continuum of monetary, educational and interpersonal resources, could affect the linguistic mobility of higher skilled working tourists. It recommends that future research could examine if a sociolinguistics of leisure could assist in exploring and mapping the leisure lifestyles appearing among mobile populations in a globalising world.     

A theoretical framework of electronic word-of-mouth against the backdrop of social networking websites

This study proposed and tested a theoretical framework that explains electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) against the backdrop of social networking websites (SNWs), which have gained substantial popularity among travelers. In particular, a United States (US) nationwide online survey was conducted and nine hypotheses were tested. The findings suggest that willingness to share knowledge and switching costs are positively related to eWOM communication. In addition, customer value (utilitarian) has positive relationships with willingness to share knowledge, perceived security, and switching cost, while customer value (hedonic) has positive relationships with willingness to share knowledge and switching costs. Last but not least, the findings indicate that perceived security does negatively impact eWOM. In light of the major findings, the article sets forth strategic implications for travel-related social networking websites.

发展中国家粮食安全与贫困——基于“交换权利映射”的分析

发展中国家贫困的特征表现为生产力和人均收入水平低,这两点导致了发展中国家个人的粮食获取能力受到制约。市场交易、自行生产和粮食援助是个体获取粮食的三种渠道。贫困通过对这些因素的影响最终导致了对粮食安全的威胁。"交换权利映射"通过个体拥有的资源与交换权利集合的映射关系说明了在发展中国家因为贫困而导致的个体拥有的资源匮乏而使其处在粮食不安全集合中。     

国外住房共有产权制度及对我国的启示

本文从共有产权的基本概念入手,介绍了共有产权制度在英国、美国和澳大利亚的发展概况,从住房形式、保障对象、产权分配和组织机构等方面解释其具体做法。通过总结三国的模式,在共有产权形式、独立的管理机构和保障性延续方面提出了对我们有益的启示。最后提出了完善我国住房共有产权制度的建议。     

Risk Perception and Buying Behavior: An Examination of Some Relationships in the Context of Cruise Tourism in Jamaica

Cruise tourism continues to grow substantially, even as many other forms of travel stagnate. In this era of increasing worldwide violence against tourists, safety, security, and risk abatement are becoming principal components in travelers' decision-making processes. This work examines the issue of perceived risk and safety and what impact these perceptions have on shopping behavior. The research takes place in Jamaica, a country with a reputation for aggressive vendors. Findings indicate that those visitors who traveled with others spent more time shopping and purchased more. Additionally, it was found that first time visitors express higher levels of discomfort with their surroundings than did repeat visitors, thus inhibiting purchase behavior. Finally, it was found that levels of perceived risk and security did have an impact on a traveler's intention to return to Jamaica.     

建立旅游安全救援系统的构想

旅游安全救援是对旅游活动中发生安全事故的相关当事人提供的紧急救护和援助,是保障旅游者安全、维护旅游业健康发展的重要方面,也是国家安全生产的需要.本文分析了我国旅游安全救援工作的现状、特点,剖析了建立旅游安全救援系统的必要性,尝试性地提出了构建由社会各部门共同参与的旅游安全救援系统的初步设想,以期创造安全的旅游环境.文章认为一个高效完善的旅游安全救援系统应该由核心机构、救援机构、直接外围机构、间接外围机构四部分共同组成.     

中国县域旅游城市文化产业安全现状、实践与思考——以赤水市为例

赤水被誉为"黔北明珠""、国际最佳休闲旅游城市",是历史文化悠久、贵州省最具影响力的县级国际旅游城市。赤水在全国范围内知名度不高,旅游综合实力不强,国际影响力与"国际最佳休闲旅游城市"这一称号实难相称,文化基础转化为税收、旅游收入等硬实力的能力不足,文化软实力距丽江、平遥等一流县域旅游城市存在一定差距。本文试从文化产业安全角度进行研究,梳理历史现状、剖析问题成因,结合实践给出对策。
