Qualities and Characteristics Club Managers Look for in Entry Level Supervisors

ABSTRACT

A resume is used as a screening tool by employers and a method of conveying a job applicant's characteristics. This study attempts to discern how certain characteristics, as shown on a resume, influence the decision to contact by club managers. Six hypothetical resumes are developed with different characteristics, such as GPA, coursework, degree, extracurricular activities, and work experience. Managers were asked to evaluate a job applicant based on a single resume. The results suggest the best resume is one showing the following characteristics: a hospitality degree, an above average GPA (> 3.0), demonstrated leadership, and club-related work experience.

我国加入GPA已经进入关键阶段,但是对有关GPA与中小企业的研究仍有待深入。文章基于GPA参加方有关例外的使用情况和实际应用情况,梳理和总结了GPA参加方的经验;从我国实际需要出发,对我国中小企业加入GPA有关条款和相关问题进行了研究。文章对中小企业有关GPA问题的整理将有助于我国加入GPA时对有关中小企业的问题进行调整。     

Computer-Assisted Instruction and Student Performance in Macroeconomic Principles

Steven Cox reports on a research project in which computer-assisted instruction was tried at Arizona State University. He explains the experimental design which involved a comparison of student learning of macroeconomic principles by CAI with that of a control group. Fairly detailed accounts are given of the computer simulations Cox used. The statistical significance of nine student characteristics in terms of their impact on overall test performance is discussed. This article should have practical value to others doing research in this field.     

How employers can stanch the hemorrhaging of collegiate GPA credibility

Grade inflation is rampant across universities, colleges, academic majors, and certainly in American business schools. Extensive evidence shows that the distribution of college GPAs is skewed sharply toward high grades. Consequently, GPAs often poorly convey students’ relative academic achievement, sending a muddled message to prospective employers. This article explores the causes and consequences of grade inflation. It concludes with six recommendations for employers who want to encourage college administrators to control collegiate grade inflation, thereby strengthening the accuracy and value of a GPA in the processes of applicant evaluation and job placement.

Time Allocation Decisions Associated with Job Market Preparation: Undergraduate Perceptions versus Market Realities

A survey of agribusiness firms identifies characteristics associated with above average starting salary offers in the allied fields of agribusiness, agricultural economics, business, and economics. A complementary survey is made of students at Texas A&M University and University of Georgia. Results show that firms value work experience and leadership experience more than students do, whereas students value raising grade point average and interview preparation more than do firms. Students seeking a firm's maximum starting salary offer will need to enhance academic performance with substantial work experience and leadership experience.

工业发展离不开国家政策的扶持。政府采购作为重要的财政手段之一,对国家的工业发展具有重要的意义。文章对GPA参加方利用政府采购扶持工业发展的政策进行总结,在此基础上确定我国政府采购支持工业发展的目标和方向,最终明确有关政策的具体内容。

The Life-Cycle Pattern of Collegiate GPA: Longitudinal Cohort Analysis and Grade Inflation

Individual semester-by-semester undergraduate grade point average for each of the eight semesters of the collegiate academic life cycle for five entire student cohorts for the classes of 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 at a large, private university in the northeast (N = 12,663) reveal a "check-mark" pattern: students' grades fell in the second semester, rose thereafter, and slumped in the last academic term. Attrition and participation in the Greek system explain over half of the longitudinal change in academic achievement. A comparison of the five cohorts of students indicates a rate of grade inflation comparable to that obtained for multischool studies covering the period 1960 to the late 1990s.

随着我国GPA（政府采购协议）谈判的启动,研究和熟悉GPA有关规定,明确我国政府采购制度的不足,对于完善我国政府采购制度,顺应政府采购市场开放的需要具有重要意义。
