ABSTRACT

The study presents an initial investigation result of the disabled consumer group. The research aims to highlight deficiencies in existing provision and helps hoteliers to understand best practices for disabled guests and makes suggestions for implementation. The research studies the five star hotels in Cairo. While disability covers a wide range of quite different impairments, the study concentrates on wheelchair users. The findings of the research will help hoteliers to maximize business from this valuable market, develop best practices through a greater understanding of disabled people, and implement policies and strategies to attract the market. By providing the right facilities and services with appropriate communications, hotels can inform and encourage the disabled to use the facilities and services that were developed for them.  相似文献

Full participation in the work force continues to be an elusive goal for disabled individuals. One common explanation for this state of affairs is that employers tend to have negative attitudes about what the handicapped have to offer as employees and what is required to integrate them into the work force. Unfortunately, relatively little recent data is available about such attitudes. Thus, a survey of Fortune 500 companies was conducted to examine employers' attitudes toward the disabled. Employers' hiring and accommodation practices were also examined. Results were encouraging for the handicapped in some areas (e.g., performance perceptions) and a cause for concern in others (e.g., the perceived cost of making workplace accommodations). Level of exposure to the handicapped was also related to attitudes and practices. Limitations, research directions, and implications for corporations are discussed.  相似文献

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) guarantees protection from discrimination for persons with a disability. The ADA requires employers to make reasonable accommodations for persons with physical and mental disabilities unless doing so would produce undue hardship on the organization. Fifteen years after the passage of the ADA, the question as to what is a reasonable accommodation remains controversial, especially for some types of disabilities. In this study, a reasonable accommodation scale is proposed and tested using structural equation modeling in hopes that such a scale will aid the courts and organizations in determining what is reasonable. Individuals’ level of awareness of disability issues is also examined in the model to examine the relationship between awareness and willingness to accommodate. Results indicate acceptable fit of the model to the data and provide support for the proposed scale. Furthermore, the relationship between awareness of disability issues and willingness to accommodate was significant. Implications for research and practice are discussed.  相似文献

This study is based on data from 679 tourists staying at hostel accommodation facilities in Zagreb, a propulsive city‐break destination in Central Europe. Besides providing insight into the socio‐demographic and behavioural characteristics of hostel tourists, this study uncovers determinant destination attributes influencing their perceptions of destination attractiveness. In particular, impact asymmetry analysis identified potential sources of delight and frustration among hostel tourists. Since the hostel tourist segment, as such, is almost completely unconsidered in contemporary tourism research, partly covered only by a few studies on youth travellers and backpackers, the results of this case study are valuable to both practitioners and researchers related to the hostelling industry and city destination marketing organizations. Rural tourism has been widely acknowledged for its effectiveness in contributing to rural areas’ development. With strong government support, rural tourism has developed in many countries during the last several decades. This study aims to improve the understanding regarding tourism in Korean rural areas using a segmentation approach. The responses of 442 tourists in 23 rural villages were analyzed. Four segments of tourists were identified based on the different benefits they sought for their vacation in rural establishments. The estimation of a multinomial logit model determined the socio‐demographic characteristics and the preferred accommodations of a rural tourist. 以高阶理论为依据,从管理者的角度研究家族企业家双重性特征与家族企业融资决策的关系。基于2004~2007年在深圳中小企业板上市的家族企业样本的实证研究发现,家族企业家的性别、任职年限、政治身份、企业家的风险倾向、控制权偏好与家族企业融资决策之间存在显著的相关性;实证研究没有发现企业家年龄与融资决策的相关性。本研究对高阶理论在我国中小家族企业中的应用是一个有益的补充,该研究的启示意义在于,研究家族企业的融资决策时,必须考虑到企业家的相关特征。同时,本文对于更好地理解家族企业的融资行为,优化家族企业的融资结构具有重要的指导作用。  相似文献

企业家的领导力可以分成学习能力、教导能力以及决策能力三个方面的内容。首先,对于学习能力来说,企业家可以将网上智慧平台作为基础,通过直播模式和慕课模式提升自身的学习能力。其次,对于教导能力来说,企业家可以借助融媒体环境的支持,将文字社交融媒体环境和视频社交融媒体环境结合起来,以此提升自身的教导能力。最后,对于决策能力来说,企业家可以通过智能数据辅助整合以及AI技术辅助筛选的方式提升自身的决策能力。基于此,论文对企业家领导力提升的文化路径进行了研究和分析。  相似文献

This paper estimates the long-term impact of a short, partly personalized, mandatory tax training program on tax compliance and business outcomes of first-time entrepreneurs. To this end, we combine survey data, audit data and unique register data from the Netherlands' Tax and Customs Administration with a three year long randomized experiment. The results show that the training affects specific domains of tax compliant behavior. Moreover, it has no impact on business survival, but treated entrepreneurs have significantly higher profits compared to the control group due to lower business costs. These outcomes are partially supportive of our hypotheses developed from theories on tax compliance and mental accounting.  相似文献

Noting increasingly independent traveling by tourists, as well as changes on the tourist activity worldwide due to the 2008 economic crisis, this study analyzes the relationships between an economic crisis, tourist’s self-organization in trip planning, and tourist’s trip satisfaction. Data from a panel (2006–2011) on how residents in Spain complete their accommodation and transport bookings are used, including data on their trip satisfaction. The study identifies a negative relationship between the 2008 economic crisis and trip satisfaction, a positive relationship between self-organization and satisfaction, as well as positive moderating effects of the crisis on the relationship between self-organization and satisfaction.  相似文献
