Endogenous structural change and crisis in a multiple time-scales growth model

The slow and endogenous twist of economic macro-structure makes up an important evolutionary feature of capitalist economies, and may be at the root of structural crisis. In this line, a Goodwinian growth model with increasing returns and profit-sharing that tries to picture a simple scenario of the seventies crisis is considered. It is shown that the exhaustion of the Kaldor-Verdoorn “productivity law” can entail, in a nonlinear framework, a “catastrophic” bifurcation from a “high” to a “low” growth path. Slow/fast dynamical systems then allow one to formalize a multiple time-scales dynamics where the growth path is shaped by the structural framework in which it takes place, but has also a long -un feedback. Structural change and crisis appear as long term and endogenous outcomes.     

The contribution of Western fast food to fast-growing body mass in China

The westernization of Asian countries has led to the rapid expansion of Western-style fast-food restaurants, which are believed to be fueling an unprecedented rise in body mass in these countries. This study tests this belief using longitudinal data from China. Exploiting the opening of a Western-style fast-food restaurant in a particular community, we conduct a transition analysis to make a more convincing causal interpretation than the standard cross-sectional or fixed-effects approach. Considering several measures of fatness, we find no robust evidence of Western fast food having a substantial effect overall, but there is some indication of effect heterogeneity.     

Electrification of a city bus network—An optimization model for cost-effective placing of charging infrastructure and battery sizing of fast-charging electric bus systems

The deployment of battery-powered electric bus systems within the public transportation sector plays an important role in increasing energy efficiency and abating emissions. Rising attention is given to bus systems using fast charging technology. This concept requires a comprehensive infrastructure to equip bus routes with charging stations. The combination of charging infrastructure and bus batteries needs a reliable energy supply to maintain a stable bus operation even under demanding conditions. An efficient layout of the charging infrastructure and an appropriate dimensioning of battery capacity are crucial to minimize the total cost of ownership and to enable an energetically feasible bus operation. In this work, the central issue of jointly optimizing the charging infrastructure and battery capacity is described by a capacitated set covering problem. A mixed-integer linear optimization model is developed to determine the minimum number and location of required charging stations for a bus network as well as the adequate battery capacity for each bus line. The bus energy consumption for each route segment is determined based on individual route, bus type, traffic, and other information. Different scenarios are examined in order to assess the influence of charging power, climate, and changing operating conditions. The findings reveal significant differences in terms of required infrastructure. Moreover, the results highlight a trade-off between battery capacity and charging infrastructure under different operational and infrastructure conditions. This paper addresses upcoming challenges for transport authorities during the electrification process of the bus fleets and sharpens the focus on infrastructural issues related to the fast charging concept.     

一种新的卫星通信信号快速盲检测方法

提出了一种卫星通信信号快速盲检测算法,该算法能够适应频谱不重叠的多信号环 境,并能准确估计信号的数量、中心频率及带宽等参数。算法既高效又简单,所需数据量少 且适应低信噪比条件,适于在星载设备上实现。理论分析和仿真及测试结果证明了算法的有 效 性。

海峡西岸经济区是国家战略的重要组成部分,中式快餐业在福建省本土却远远不敌洋快餐,肯德基、麦当劳、必胜客等洋快餐占据一半以上的快餐市场。从海西中式快餐业经营的各项数据出发,剖析海西中式快餐业发展现状,对研究海峡西岸经济区中式快餐业发展策略具有重要的现实意义。     

基于球谐变换的无人机蜂群RCS快速分析算法

为了获取目标的雷达截面积(Radar Cross Section,RCS),传统的方法是采用矩量法（Method of Moment,MOM）或多层快速多极子方法(Multi-level Fast Multipole Algorithm,MLFMA),尽管对目标的RCS计算精确,但其要求计算机的存储量大且计算耗时。而对于由上百成千个小型无人机组成的无人机蜂群而言,若采用上述方法来计算其RCS,计算量巨大,甚至无法计算。针对上述问题,提出了采用球面波展开技术与球谐变换相结合的方法来提升对无人机蜂群RCS的仿真效率,其关键技术是通过改变球谐函数中的求和次序,利用快速傅里叶变换来计算偏心球面上离散点的电场分布。数值实例表明,相比于高精度的MLFMA,所提方法获取蜂群无人机RCS的结果与其吻合良好,但对计算机内存的需求远远小于MLFMA,且随着无人机数量的增加,其计算速度可提升几个数量级。     

快速工业化地区中心镇的土地经营

Stock Returns,Productivity, and Corruption in Eight European Fast-Emerging Markets

This article addresses the impact of productivity, corruption, and trade openness on the stock returns of 265 industrial companies listed in eight Eastern European fast-emerging markets, over the 2004-2013 period. Through a three-factor model that includes both measures at firm level and macro-level control variables, our findings suggest that country corruption index is negatively correlated with the total annual return of the stocks of the listed industrial companies of our sample. Moreover, the most productive firms are featured by higher stock returns, while leverage seems not to be a key predictor of stock returns. In addition, the article uncovers innovative evidence about trade openness that is negatively correlated with stock returns due to its connection with the recent financial crisis. That is, firms operating in markets that are more open to trade show a higher degree of interconnection with other economies and are more likely to undergo the effects of negative fluctuations from foreign markets during the economic crisis. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
