Economic design of an chart for short-run production

The aim of this paper is to present an economical design of an X chart for a short-run production. The process mean starts equal to μ₀ (in-control, State I) and in a random time it shifts to μ₁>μ₀ (out-of-control, State II). The monitoring procedure consists of inspecting a single item at every m produced ones. If the measurement of the quality characteristic does not meet the control limits, the process is stopped, adjusted, and additional (r-1) items are inspected retrospectively. The probabilistic model was developed considering only shifts in the process mean. A direct search technique is applied to find the optimum parameters which minimizes the expected cost function. Numerical examples illustrate the proposed procedure.

Improvements in the safety screening of resin manufacturing processes

Consequences of acrylic resin reactor runaways can be devastating, as it is evident in investigation reports of industrial accidents. Critical in preventing major accidents is the safety screening of any acrylic resin formula to be manufactured in large scale. Computer model simulations facilitate the evaluation of “layers of protection” against acrylic polymerization runaways. This work describes the adaptation of a chemical process dynamic simulator (DuPont™ TMODS™) for use in simulating acrylic polymerization runaways. “Loss of cooling” and “monomer pooling (accumulation)” scenarios are the causes of these runaways. Simulations show that scenarios leading to “monomer pooling” result in more energetic runaways and to larger emergency relief capacity requirements than “loss of cooling” scenarios. © 2009 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Process Saf Prog, 2009     

Twists and turns of triadic business relationship recovery

This study focuses on triadic business relationship recovery processes through a single case study. We address the question of what kind of process takes place when a business relationship on the verge of ending is recovered and what roles a third actor can play in the process. As a result, we model a process through which a triadic business relationship is recovered and attraction, trust, and commitment are restored.

人的发展经济学与政府社会福利改进的基础

先天禀赋和后天发展机遇的不同,决定了社会中财富创造者在现有制度环境下财富分配成果的不同。因此,贫富差距的存在具有一定的必然性。文章证明了基于经济人假设建立起来的经济学自身并不能解决财富的有效分配问题。新中国的发展历程告诉我们,解决贫富差距问题不能走“杀富济贫”的平均主义老路,而是要通过有效的制度安排,例如通过合理的税收转移支付为穷人建立适当的社会保障体系,以维持社会的长治久安。为此,文章建立了政府社会福利改进的基础模型,并对所建模型进行了数字模拟,最后还解析了模拟过程和结果的政策含义。     

不动产物权变动制度在我国农村城市化进程中的现实意义

本文研究了我国特别是深圳地区的农村城市化改造的情况后发现,非依法律行为而发生的土地物权变动对于加快城市化进程非常必要。笔者对各地政府普遍采用的土地征用制度存在缺陷进行了深刻地批判,肯定了深圳市政府2005年通过国有化改制转变土地物权性质的做法,进而对土地物权国有化转制后急待解决的土地使用权年限、土地使用权转让、规范"炒地皮"、闲置土地收回、土地使用权转让方式等后续问题提出了自己独到的思路。     

科技期刊出版业务流程的案例研究

本文基于业务沆程再造理论、数字内容理论和开放存取的技术方法,针对两种典型的样本期刊,对出版业务流程进行了对比研究。案例研究发现,传统期刊的出版业务流程在成本、质量、服务、速度等方面存在严重的缺欠,而再造后的网络期刊出版节约了时间和资金,提高了质量,加强了互动的服务,提高了效率,实现了整个出版工作的协调一致,取得了戏剧性的效果。基于此,本文提出对科技期刊业务流程再造的思考。     

An analytic hierarchy process for ranking operating costs of low cost and full service airlines

This paper develops an application of the analytic hierarchy process to rank the operating cost components of full service and low cost airlines. It takes into account the financial balance sheets and answers to a questionnaire submitted to the managers of selected airlines. The results suggest that the analytic hierarchy process can be appropriately used to obtain the ranking of the costs taking into account different views: financial, management and operative. Rental, office equipment and other supplies costs show the highest importance in the cost ranking, both for full services and low cost airlines. The robustness of the results is tested by Monte Carlo analysis.
