Recursive Nash bargaining over a productive asset

We propose an equilibrium concept (the recursive Nash bargaining solution) that describes the outcome of repeated negotiations between two rational agents under the assumptions that the state of the economic system under consideration changes according to the actions of the players and that neither party can make binding commitments to future behavior. This equilibrium is dynamically consistent but typically not Pareto-efficient. As an application, we compute the recursive Nash bargaining solution in a model of two heterogeneous agents bargaining over the use of a productive asset with constant gross rate of return and study how the time-preference rates and the elasticities of substitution affect the solution.     

A bargaining perspective on strategic outsourcing and supply competition

This article considers the outsourcing choice of a downstream firm with its own upstream production resources or assets. The novelty of the approach is to consider the outsourced function as involving resources consistent with the resource‐based view of the firm. From a bargaining perspective, we characterize a downstream firm's decision whether to outsource to an independent or to an established upstream firm. In so doing, the downstream firm faces a trade‐off between lower input costs afforded by independent competition, and higher resource value associated with those who can consolidate upstream capabilities. We show that this trade‐off is resolved in favor of outsourcing to an established firm. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

本文运用内生金融发展理论这一新的理论框架来理解中国的金融发展.我们利用中国1978年以来的数据,通过计量研究发现,产权改革、法治水平的提高以及金融的自由化,将有利于增加私人信贷,但对整体信贷量以及金融深化并无显著的作用.城市化水平的提高,不仅有利于提高私人信贷水平,而且对于整体信贷量的提高以及金融深化都有显著的作用.本文的结论是:构建合理的制度体系是中国金融未来发展的关键所在.     

Partnership perspectives in tourism and recreational property development

Property development partnerships are increasingly being seen in the UK as a means of achieving tourism and recreational projects. This article briefly examines the nature of the relevant property development market; characteristics and attitudes of involved organisations; purposes, benefits and mechanics of partnerhsips (illustrated by two case studies); and future directions for partnerships. The issues and potential approaches identified are, to varying extents, of relevance to project implementation in developed and developing countries.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LITIGATION ACTIVITY IN THE USA

Abstract.  Brand names or trademarks carry incredible economic power and prestige. There is increasing recognition by world bodies that intellectual property (IP), whether manifested in patents, trademarks, copyrights or trade secrets, is highly valuable and must be protected through robust IP enforcement. The USA is an interesting natural laboratory as patent, trademark and copyright litigation battles have been raging domestically for some time. The paper discusses the four main forms of IP assets, the legal remedies that are available to enforce the property rights inherent in each type of IP asset, the basic damages theory relating to each form of IP, and how damages may be calculated when each type of asset is presumed to be infringed. The increased recognition of the value of IP has led to stronger enforcement of IP protection, an increase in IP litigation, and growing policy actions that are focused on how that protection should be manifested. An empirical analysis of how the IP litigation activity in the USA has changed over time is also presented.

李叔同一生与不少女性有过交往，并留下了很大一部分与之相关的诗词作品。从这些作品以及他的实际行为中，我们得以提炼出他的女性观：即对女性命运的同情、对女性才华的称颂和对母亲的依恋。这种女性观贯穿于他出家的前后。而之所以形成这种女性观，则源于当时提倡女权的社会背景和李叔同个人的生活经历。

长沙市近几年引入了产权酒店这种旅游房地产的新型模式,但是由于行业管理不规范、法律法规不健全等因素的存在,阻碍了未来长沙产权酒店业的健康发展。本文通过实地调查,分析了长沙市产权酒店发展的现状,并提出了相应对策。
