Ultimate Controller Ownership and Firm Value in Taiwan

Using a panel of 242 Taiwanese listed firms during a ten-year period (1997-2006), this study tests whether there is an optimal ratio of ownership ultimate control that maximizes firm value. This work adopts Tobin's q as the proxy for firm value and finds that cash flow rights less than 27.8 percent and control rights between 32.34 percent and 34.03 percent are an optimal level of ownership ultimate control to maximize firm value. This distribution of financing sources propels the nonlinear relationship uncovered in this study and sheds light on legal aspects of Taiwan's system of ownership structure.

中国上市公司现金持有动态调整行为研究

以动态面板数据方法构建的公司现金持有动态调整模型比静态模型更能够捕捉到企业现金持有的动态调整速度和调整形态,利用该模型对我国市场进行实证检验,结果表明,我国上市公司存在最优现金持有水平,但由于调整成本的存在,使得公司在偏离最优水平的情况下只能进行部分调整且调整速度较慢,并由此导致了持续性单方向调整的特殊形态。此外,企业规模、投资机会及财务杠杆等其他一些因素对现金持有动态调整过程也有显著影响。     

农村地区推广非现金结算的对策思考

我国农村地区非现金结算方式极不发达,其原因有多个方面。应切实改善非现金结算的宏观环境,严格现金监管,完善非现金结算法律制度,强化非现金结算风险防范合作机制,规范非现金结算流程;同时,应因地制宜创新支付结算工具,实现结算业务的多样性,并推行非现金结算代理制,以推广农村地区非现金结算方式。     

创业板董事、高管人员辞职行为法律问题研究

我国创业板市场上市公司的开板,标志着我国证券市场多层次建设取得实质性突破,更意味着证券市场成为创新经济"新动力"。本文首先对创业板进行概述,然后围绕上市公司经营中董事、高管辞职引出的法律问题进行分析,最后为完善我国创业板市场上市公司董事辞职行为法律规制问题进行思考并提出建议。     

Equity valuation: A survey of professional practice

This paper reports the results of a scientific survey of the equity valuation practices of CFA Institute members with equity analysis job responsibilities. Using an instrument designed to minimize biases in prior valuation surveys and sampling a larger group than in previous studies (13,500 investment professionals, resulting in 1,980 valid completed questionnaires), this paper documents professional practices in the selection of equity valuation approaches, including specific model variations and key input preferences. Important differences in practice were observed across geographies and employer firm types.     

Dividend Changes and Future Earnings Performance： Evidence from UK Market

This paper investigates the dividend signaling hypothesis, described here as the relationship between dividend changes and future earnings performance. We find that managers pursue different patterns in UK from that in US when making dividend policy. A positive and significant association between dividend changes and the growth of future earnings is observed in the immediately following year after dividend announced There isn＇t significant link in the longer future. These phenomena are caused by managers＇ near-eyesight in UK market. In addition, an interesting finding is that dividend decreases have larger negative influence on earnings growth than positive impact on earnings prospects of dividend increases. This is consistent with the infrequent occurrence of dividend reduction.     

Futures Trading Activity and Commodity Cash Price Volatility

Abstract:   This paper examines the lead‐lag relationship between futures trading activity (volume and open interest) and cash price volatility for major agricultural commodities. Granger causality tests and generalized forecast error variance decompositions show that an unexpected increase in futures trading volume unidirectionally causes an increase in cash price volatility for most commodities. Likewise, there is a weak causal feedback between open interest and cash price volatility. These findings are generally consistent with the destabilizing effect of futures trading on agricultural commodity markets.     

股权分置改革后上市公司股利政策研究

2006年我国股权分置改革基本完成，这种制度变革是否对上市公司2006年的股利政策产生了影响。通过对2006年上市公司股利政策进行统计分析，结果显示2006年上市公司的股利政策具有股利分配形式以现金股利为主、整体分红水平提高不多、异常派现行为减少等特征。在对这些特征进行分析的基础上，提出了应加强现金流量管理和大力发展机构投资者。
