This article examines the US opposition to a priori planning of the HF and space satellite spectrum, and ‘orbital slots’. This opposition is then contrasted with the rationale of domestic pre-engineered allocation and allotment plans for television and FM radio. The article then contrasts the US animus towards Third World calls for a ‘balanced’ information flow with the longstanding US commitment to fairness, balance, equal access and diversity. The author suggest that the operation of a foreign-domestic double standard could damage US credibility.  相似文献

Consumer behavior in the Italian mobile telecommunication market   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper investigates the characteristics of Italian cell phone users. A multidimensional segmentation approach was adopted, using concurrently three sets of variables: consumer/user lifestyles, use motivations and product/service attributes. Data on a national sample (1067 individuals) were collected and factor and cluster analysis were then performed on the database. The study led to the identification of three user segments, each with a diverse combination of the segmentation variables. Findings provide implications for the mobile telecommunication industry and could suggest strategic choices to mobile operators—especially cell phone producers—and constitute the basis for their strategic positioning.  相似文献

Mobile service has been totally revolutionizing the service industry with the explosive growth in mobile application (‘app’) services. With the rapid proliferation of mobile app service, there is still a constant need for the research focusing on the precise and scientific prediction of the diffusion of mobile app service with consideration of competitive relationships. However, most of the relevant research dealing with diffusion did not consider the competition effect among mobile app services. In addition, in mobile app services, big competitors, which have a larger marketing share in same category, can interrupt the diffusion of other mobile app services significantly. Thus, the level of competitiveness also should be considered for more precise prediction of mobile app service. Accordingly, the present study proposes a new approach to analyse the degree of competitiveness of mobile app service categories using Herfindahl–Hirschman index and classify mobile app service categories. Then, this study systematically analyses their respective diffusion patterns based on the given empirical data using competitive Bass model. A case of Korean mobile service industry is presented to illustrate the proposed approach.  相似文献

Abstract

Adverting standardization has been widely discussed since 1990s. Recently, this discussion has been extended to mobile advertising. When it comes to adopt a standardization or localization strategy, it is important that marketers understand how mobile advertising is perceived in different markets. This study examines the impacts of four perceived values of mobile advertising on young Australian and Chinese consumers’ acceptance of mobile advertising. The findings suggest that perceived functional value have the most positive effect on mobile advertising acceptance, followed by credibility and interactivity value. Further analyses reveal that culture moderates the relationships between perceived values and advertising acceptance.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The European Union (EU) completed a massive expansion in 2004. On January 1, 2007 Bulgaria and Romania were admitted into the union. EU accession requires the fulfillment of a list of requirements relating to judicial, economic, information and social infrastructures. This article examines Bulgaria's and Romania's National Information Infrastructures (NII) analyzing traditional, high technology and competitive structures. Comparisons are made to the original 15 European Union member countries' (EU15) NII structures and to those ten countries which entered in 2004 (EU10). Results of the analysis indicate that Bulgaria and Romania compare favorably on traditional measures, though high technology infrastructures lag considerably in some instances, and will be costly to build well beyond available EU funding sources. The gap will provide opportunities for western high technology firms which should be favorably embraced by the two resource strapped governments.  相似文献

Abstract

Mobile computing has the potential to be of great benefit to aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners. Small businesses and entrepreneurs have been the subject of much literature, national policy and regional policy. A recurring concern has been the inability to transfer the benefits arising from new technologies to this important segment of the business community. The simplest and most obvious manner of rectifying these situations would be to have the small business sector participants come to the local colleges, universities, or small business development centers. However, due to a plethora of external and internal barriers, most attempts to reach this segment have proven quite futile. This gives rise to Mobile education (M-education). This article explores the possibilities and limitation of M-education. It gives a potential way of utilizing the technology and potential partnership in the Inland Empire of Southern California.
