A hybrid decomposition algorithm for designing a multi-modal transportation network under biomass supply uncertainty

This study presents a two-stage stochastic programming model for the design and management of a biomass co-firing supply chain network under feedstock supply uncertainty. To represent a more realistic case, we generate scenarios from prediction errors of the historical and forecasted biomass supply availabilities. We solve the model using a hybrid decomposition algorithm that combines Sample average approximation with an enhanced Progressive hedging algorithm. The proposed algorithm is validated via a real-world case study using data from Mississippi and Alabama. Computational results indicate that the proposed algorithm is capable of producing high quality solutions in a reasonable amount of time.     

Hegemonic Masculinity in Hip-Hop Music? Difference in Brand Mention in Rap Music Based on the Rapper's Gender

Content analysis of the top 50 hip hop songs from Billboard's Year-End Charts from 2008 to 2011, for a total analysis of 200 songs, was conducted for this study. Using Hegemonic Masculinity to guide our theoretical perspective, songs were coded for multiple items including gender of rapper(s), number of brand mentions and kinds of products mentioned. Results revealed that there are significant differences in the number of products and brands mentioned based on the gender of the artists, especially important when paired with the finding that women are significantly underrepresented in hip hop music. Songs performed by male artists had a significantly higher number of brands mentioned than did songs by female singers. Researchers also found differences in the types of products mentioned in hip hop music based on the gender of singers. Male singers mentioned brands and products in the categories of vehicles, alcohol, fashion, and entertainment categories while female artists mentioned more brands and products in the travel and entertainment categories.     

黑龙江省城镇就业人员平均工资分析

黑龙江统计年鉴2013将原有的城镇在岗职工平均工资指标调整为城镇就业人员平均工资,且数据统计时间为2008-2012年。依据统计年鉴的数据对黑龙江省城镇就业人员平均工资进行了分析,结果表明在研究期间内,在平均工资上涨的同时,不同部门就业人员的平均工资仍然存在差距。     

The profitability of moving average trading rules in BRICS and emerging stock markets

Technical analysis and trading systems have been widely used by practitioners in financial markets. Since some academic studies have highlighted that these tools can generate positive alphas when compared with a buy-and-hold strategy, we studied the main stocks of the BRICS and emerging markets. We considered the period from 2000 to 2015 and observed different combinations of moving average strategies and periods. The main results indicate that, for some countries, there is a combination of periods for moving averages producing better outcomes.     

Variables control chart limits and tests for special causes

Control charts are used to detect problems in control such as outliers, shifts in levels or excess variability in subgroup means that may have a special cause. This paper addresses itself to deriving control chart limits based on past data and based on initial samples in a current control situation. We present a general setting for control charts. Furthermore, an overview is given of tests for special causes. The tests are standardized so that the asymptotic type I error does not exceed a fixed level. The distributions of the run lengths of the tests and combinations of tests are also evaluated. We propose to use a low percen-tile of the run length distribution, instead of the average run length, to study the performance of the tests. These indicate that, in particular when tests are combined, the run length percentiles may be too small for practical purposes. It is shown that (nearly) exact control chart limits for observations from a normal distribution exist. The traditional limits differ considerably from the proposed ones and correspond to even smaller run length percentiles.     

多哈回合分层公式对中国农产品税率分布的影响效应分析

在新一轮多哈回合农产品谈判中,关税削减是市场准入部分的核心议题,本文在《中华人民共和国进出口税则》(2006)的基础上模拟了5个主要的分层削减公式对中国农产品税率分布的影响。采用了均值、中位数、众数、标准差系数、极大值、偏度系数和峰度系数衡量削减效果。模拟结果显示,G20模拟方案(三)和美国模拟方案的降税幅度较大,而G10模拟方案和G20模拟方案(一)的降税幅度较小,后者对中国农业带来的冲击相对较弱。     

普通高校人才流失特征

普通高校人才流失严重影响着我国人才的培养。本文引用大量的资料对我国普通高校人才流动的特征进行了全面系统的分析，分析结果显示：在高校人才流失是普遍存在的；综合类院校和重点院校人才呈正增长，其它院校呈负增长；国家重点院校的人才以流向国外为主，其它院校的人才以流向重点院校为主，以及大城市和沿海地区；高校人才流动主要以45岁以下的中青年教师为主。     

Clues for discriminating between moving average and autoregressive models in spatial processes

In this paper we try to provide additional insight into the problem of how to discriminate between the two most common spatial processes: the autoregressive and the moving average. This problem, whose analogous time series is apparently simple, acquires a certain complexity when it is considered in an irregular system of spatial units, mainly because there are few tools to carry out this discussion. Nevertheless, even with this lack, we believe that it is possible to make some progress using the methods available at present. In this paper we discuss the advantages and inconveniences of the different techniques that can help us to discriminate between both processes. We finish off the examination with a Monte Carlo exercise, and an application to the European regional income, which has enabled us to better understand the performance of several proposals such as the Lagrange Multipliers, the so-called Variance criterion and the tests of Vuong and Clarke.
