Following Martin's paper on quadratic spatial equilibrium models this paper presents ways to incorporate imperfect competition in these models by altering the objective function of the quadratic program. This paper shows how the standard Cournot and Slackelberg equilibria may be modelled. The paper also describes the new theoretical models of consistent conjectural variations and how they may be translated into quadratic spatial equilibrium models. Situations that are likely to be modelled are discussed and appropriate models are presented. More complicated equilibria that cannot be modelled by simple adjustment of the quadratic objective function are also discussed.
Aprés la composition de Martin sur les modeles de L'équilibre quadratique et spatial, nous presentons des moyens d'incorprer la compétition imparfaite dans ces modeles en modifiant la fonction objective du programe quadratique. Nous montrons comment on peut modeler les équilibres Cournot et Stackelberg. Nous décrivons aussi les nouveaux modeles théoriques des variations consistentes et conjecturales, et comment ils peuvent éytre traduits en modeles de l'équilibre quadratique et spatial. Nous discutons les situations qui peuvent probablement étre modelées et nous presentons des modeles qui nous semblent appropriés. Nous discutons aussi des équilibres plus compliqués qui ne peuvent pas étre modelés par un simple ajustement de la fonction objective et quadratique.  相似文献

This study integrates Social Cognitive Theory with the Job Demands‐Resources Model to examine self‐efficacy in relation to emotional exhaustion and work‐family conflict (WFC) in a sample of 192 employees. The results obtained through structural equation analysis show: a negative association between self‐efficacy and both work overload and emotional exhaustion; a positive relationship between work overload and both emotional exhaustion and WFC; that work overload mediates the relation between self‐efficacy and both emotional exhaustion and WFC; that role ambiguity moderates the relation of self‐efficacy with work overload; and that tenure in the sales territory moderates the relation of work overload with WFC. This paper aims to clarify the development process of the inbound tourism policies of Japan from 1859 to 2003. Evolving through five periods and ten phases, policies have been variously promoted to obtain foreign currencies and break the country’s isolation at the earliest stage, to make it a peaceful and cultured nation via international exchanges and friendship after the Pacific War, and, more recently, to contribute to its economic revitalization in recession. The relationships between inbound and national land policies, as well as nonstructural aspects such as promotion, advertising, and services, are also examined.  相似文献

Through colonial intervention, several South Pacific countries were catapulted from a decentralized village-based society to a centralized state in which the metropolitan power imposed its own legislation in a comprehensive way. Little account was taken of prevailing traditional values and practices as the Island countries leapfrogged much of the pioneer stage of development. The direction of change was prescribed by imported models imposed from above. Today, the participation of indigenous communities in tourism may be strongly supported by government policy but inhibited in practice by long standing legislative requirements. The concept of “pioneer space” is advanced to bridge the “implementation gap” between tourism policy and effective result, with Solomon Islands as a case study.  相似文献

This study explores how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the productivity of accounting faculty who identify as caregivers of children. We examine the effects on caregivers of children because of the significant shift in the family-work interface that resulted from remote working and learning. We draw on existing family-work conflict research to develop four hypotheses that explore why the productivity of accounting faculty who are caregivers of children might be affected differently during the pandemic than that of accounting faculty who are non-caregivers of children. We surveyed accounting faculty primarily across Canada and the United States. We find that accounting faculty caring for children during the pandemic experienced reduced research, teaching, and service productivity because of increased family-work conflict and depletion. We supplement our main findings with an analysis of open-ended questions to further understand productivity changes and supports for research, teaching, and service. Our study contributes to research examining family-work conflict, employee productivity, and the accounting profession by making practical recommendations for providing targeted support for caregivers of children during times of crisis.  相似文献

Empirical research characterizing transportation markets in developing countries is scarce. By analyzing contracts between the World Food Programme and private carriers, we identify the determinants of transportation tariffs in Ethiopia and quantify their relative importance. The econometric models devised from our unique dataset provide insights for shippers to improve procurement processes, for carriers to develop competitive business models and for government authorities to define effective investments and policies. Results indicate that the number of carriers on a given lane significantly reduces transportation tariffs and that policies stimulating competition may be as important as road infrastructure investments in Ethiopia's development strategy.  相似文献

This paper traces the development of consumer demand analysis at Agriculture Canada for the period 1972 to 1982 and identifies areas for future work. The objectives of this exercise are threefold: (I) to assess existing empirical results, emphasizing problems in specifying, estimating and evaluating alternative models; (2) to make the benefit of the Canadian experience available to applied researchers in Canada and other countries who are investigating the structure of consumer demand; and (3) to provide perspective for future analyses of consumer demand.
Cet article retrace le développement de l'analyse de la demande des consommateurs de 1972 à 1982 à Agriculture Canada el ètahlit les champs d'intérét du travail à venir. Following Lavelle, Rupp, and Brockner's ( 2007 ) target similarity framework, we propose that perceptions of support and career satisfaction mediate the influence of justice perceptions on citizenship and counterproductive performance. Structural equation modelling results from 356 employees supporting partial mediation. Collectively, the model explained 19% of the variance in perceptions of organizational support, 44% in perceived supervisor support, 33% in career satisfaction, 35% in citizenship performance directed toward the supervisor, 42% in citizenship performance directed toward the organization, 49% in job/task conscientiousness citizenship performance, 9% in counterproductive performance toward the supervisor, and 20% of the variance in counterproductive performance directed toward the organization. We argue that distributive, procedural, informational, and interpersonal dimensions of organizational justice follow different pathways and variously influence organizational outcomes. This study analyses the role of chief executive officers (CEOs) in the internationalization of small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs). Specifically, it examines the impact of CEOs' demographic characteristics on the internationalization of SMEs. Based on upper echelons theory, resource‐based view and information processing theory, it is hypothesized that CEO characteristics like age, education, tenure, and political connectedness affect SMEs' international performance. Using the panel data analysis of 283 UK SMEs for the period of 2005 to 2015, this study provides evidence that CEOs' political connections and educational level are positively related to firm internationalization, while age negatively influences firm internationalization.
