Abstract

Employers are increasingly using social networking website (SNW) content to screen applicants for employment despite the absence of much empirical support for this practice. The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of using SNW content to predict employee behavior. Specifically, we investigated the relationship between SNW content and counterproductive work behaviors (CWB), occurrence of workplace accidents, alcohol consumption, and episodic heavy drinking. Participants (N = 146 MBA and upper level undergraduate business students) self-reported demographic information and information about workplace counterproductive behavior. Participants also provided access to their SNW profile, which the researchers subsequently accessed in order to assess potentially compromising content. Results indicate SNW profiles are not associated with CWB or involvement in workplace accidents, while SNW profiles containing alcohol and drug content are associated with alcohol consumption and episodic heavy drinking. Our study is among the first to examine the relationship between SNW profile information and CWBs of interest to HRM personnel and provides evidence that practitioners should exercise caution in drawing inferences about workplace behaviors based on SNW profile information.  相似文献

通过对家庭安全监控系统需求的分析,设计了一种基于ZigBee技术的家庭安全监控系统。分析了家庭安全监控系统的特点,给出了ZigBee网络组建方法和系统的软硬件设计,并介绍了ZigBee网关的实现方法和硬件设计,完成对家庭安全监控系统的搭建。实验验证本系统稳定性强,使用灵活方便,可以实现家庭安全的实时监控,保障家庭安全。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Regardless of the growth in social media and social network advertising (SNA), little theoretical and empirical knowledge exists on the differences between countries, and the perceptions and attitudes towards social network advertising. The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationships between users’ perceptions (personal and societal), their attitudes and their behaviour towards Facebook advertising, across three countries, as well as the moderating role of privacy and general advertising attitudes. Online surveys were administered and a convenience sampling resulted in 1,166 respondents. Structural equation modelling was used to test the proposed model.

The research indicates that the social support theory shows promise for examining the perceptions and attitudes towards SNA. Furthermore, the validity of the conceptual model is confirmed in all three countries; however, the strength of these relationships differs. Additionally, it is evident that consumers’ culture influences the role of privacy and trust in SNA perceptions.  相似文献

We examine how international orientation (IO) of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in China is influenced by foreign and indigenous Social Networking Site (SNS) use. Existing international business theory does not explain how SNS use by emerging market SMEs underpins IO. Combining knowledge-based theory, International Entrepreneurship literature and insights from Information Management, we test a model of opposite effects for the use of foreign and indigenous SNS. Analysis of data from 117 Chinese SMEs provides strong support to the central argument that indigenous rather than foreign SNS helps this new breed of firm to become more internationally-oriented.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The emergence of online social network invokes social actors to share their personal information digitally. Moreover, it provides the facility to maintain their links with people of same interest globally. Take advantage of these services; it has become a fascinating testbed to invite various threats like a spammer. Detection of spammer in OSN is one of the most critical tasks. Spammer not only spreads unwanted or bad advertisement but does certain malicious activity in others' profiles. By clearly understanding the activities of different threats, some incremental and accurate approaches are needed for detecting spammer content and profiles involved in these activities by using social network services. Therefore, the focus of this article is to detect spammer content and account, specifically on the leading microblogging platform called Twitter. We propose a hybrid approach which leverages the capabilities of various machine learning algorithms to separate spammer and nonspammer contents and account. Initially, the optimisation algorithm called genetic algorithm analyses the various features and selects the best suitable features that influence the behaviour of user account, and these features are then used to train classifiers. Our framework achieved to severalise spammer and nonspammer content in an effective way. Finally, to prove the efficiency of our proposed framework, a comparative analysis is conducted with some existing state-of-art techniques. The experimental analysis shows that our approach achieves a high detection rate of 99.6%, which is better than other state-of-art techniques.  相似文献
