世界经济“失衡与增长之谜”与中国经济的发展

美国经济的严重失衡与世界经济高速增长已持续长达3年时间,失衡与高速增长何以并存?这一现象被经济学家称为“失衡与高速增长之谜”。本文通过分析世界经济增长和失衡情况,认为这一现象可以从经济的全球化促进跨国公司向发展中国家的产业转移;美国超强的实力所支撑的金融霸权地位;美国为维护既得的经济利益,不愿采取措施对经济进行调整和新兴市场国家经济增长过于依赖外部需求方面去理解,提出该现象的世界经济循环过程、孕育的风险和中国采取的对策。

Spatial determinants of Japanese FDI in China

Research on foreign direct investment in China has spawned an increasingly large literature. Whilst regional cleavages with respect to the distribution of foreign direct investment (FDI) are acknowledged, empirical research on the spatial determinants of FDI in China has been limited. Furthermore, research on the spatial determinants of home country FDI in China has thus far been neglected due to difficulties in accessing the appropriate data. The objective of this paper is to examine the spatial determinants of Japanese direct investment in China by using an econometric model. To that purpose, a dataset is created from the Toyo Keizai directory on the overseas activities of Japanese companies. The results show that tertiary education, inland waterways, as well as coastal location are positive and significant determinants of Japanese investment in China.     

Role of TFP in China's Growth*

This paper uses the dual approach to growth accounting to examine the role of total factor productivity (TFP) in recent Chinese growth. Most previous growth accounting studies on China have followed the primal approach, which depends heavily on the national income accounts. Unfortunately, despite efforts to rectify them, Chinese national income accounts data continue to have problems that affect primal approach growth accounting results. The dual approach, in contrast, allows independent price information to play a role. Recent research has focused on the following two questions: (i) How significant has TFP's role been in post‐reform Chinese growth? (ii) Has TFP growth rate slowed down in more recent years? This paper finds that: (i) the TFP growth rate for mainland China computed using the dual approach also proves high; and (ii) there has been some slowdown in TFP growth rate in recent years.
