There are many situations where two interacting individuals can benefit from coordinating their actions. We examine the endogenous choice of partners in such social coordination games and the implications for resulting play. We model the interaction pattern as a network where individuals periodically have the discretion to add or sever links to other players. With such endogenous interaction patterns we see multiple stochastically stable states of play, including some that involve play of equilibria in the coordination game that are neither efficient nor risk-dominant. Thus the endogenous network structure not only has implications for the interaction pattern that emerges, but it also has a significant impact on the play in the coordination game relative to what would arise if the same interaction network were exogenous.  相似文献

Managing stakeholders' concerns in megaprojects with an inclusive and ethical vision is a current open challenge. To overcome company-centered stakeholder-management practices, an ecosystem view, (i.e., one based on the network of relationships among involved stakeholders), should be adopted by designing bottom-up participatory stakeholder mapping processes that include the stakeholders affected by the construction of a megaproject. This paper presents an analysis of the stakeholder ecosystem of a contested megaproject in Italy (the Turin–Lyon high-speed rail) aimed at identifying similarities and discrepancies in stakeholder identification and prioritization between the managers' perception and an ecosystem point of view. The study followed a mixed-method approach. By coding the self-declared statements from 21 interviews with middle and top managers of the organization in charge of the construction and visualizing the emerging network of actors through a social network analysis and the use of centrality degrees, the most relevant stakeholders are identified. Our findings reveal how the prioritization of stakeholders obtained through the centrality degrees significantly differs from what the managers declare in reference to the concept of salience, highlighting how a bottom-up stakeholder mapping process—by including the stakeholders themselves in the mapping process—should be designed and reiterated during the whole life of a megaproject in order to adopt an inclusive stakeholder management approach.  相似文献

Ethnic and cultural diversity is an increasing reality in the US workplace. The current study highlights the importance of acknowledging the culturally heterogeneous nature of ethnic groups, and the need to focus on social identity characteristics such as cultural values when assessing group differences. We demonstrate that cultural values (i.e., individualism) contribute to employees' experiences of work‐family conflict beyond the effects of ethnicity. Specifically, we introduce a model informed by social identity theory that explains why acculturation is related to work‐family conflict. The model was tested with a sample of 309 employed Caucasian and Hispanic Americans. An empirical test of our model provides evidence that individualism mediates the relationship between language‐ and social‐based acculturation and work‐family conflict, even when controlling for ethnicity. Additionally, alternative models further reveal that the effects of acculturation and individualism contribute to work interfering with family. As an implication of the current study, we suggest that researchers and organizational managers should consider the cultural values of their diverse workforce when implementing policies that affect conflict between work and family. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Research Summary: Combining studies on real options theory and economic short‐termism, we propose that, depending on CEOs’ career horizons, CEOs have heterogeneous interests in strategic flexibility, and thus, have different incentives to make real options investments. We argue that compared to CEOs with longer career horizons, CEOs with shorter career horizons will be less inclined to make real options investments because they may not fully reap the rewards during their tenure. In addition, we argue that long‐term incentives and institutional ownership will mitigate the relationship between CEOs’ career horizons and real options investments. U.S. public firms as an empirical setting produced consistent evidence for our predictions. Our study is the first to theoretically explain and empirically show that a CEO's self‐seeking behavior will impact real options investments. Managerial Summary: This article helps to explain how a CEO's self seeking‐behavior may shape a firm's real option investment, which could result in different level of strategic flexibility. We argue that CEOs with short career horizons have less time to exercise their firms’ real options, which should lower the investments in the firms’ real options portfolios relative to CEOs with long career horizons. We study a sample of U.S. public firms and find strong evidence that a CEO's expected tenure in the firm is positively related to the real options investments at the firm level. We find that this agency issue can be mitigated by adopting appropriate corporate governance mechanisms such as long‐term incentives and institutional investors.  相似文献

目的 乡村振兴离不开农民参与,农民工作为农民群体的一部分,分析其迁移决策的形成机制并给予合理的行为引导是乡村振兴战略实施的现实需要。方法 文章以计划行为理论为基础建立农民工迁移决策分析框架,结合实地调研数据,运用结构方程模型的方法,剖析农民工迁移决策的形成过程与各节点关键影响因素。结果 (1)反映社会压力的主观规范与反映农民工自身喜好程度的行为态度之间存在相互影响关系,反映农民工迁移阻碍的知觉行为控制与主观规范、行为态度之间影响较弱,农民工迁移意愿主要受行为态度与知觉行为控制影响。(2)来自农村社会的意见是农民工迁移决策过程中社会压力的主要来源,经济与福利因素是影响农民工行为态度的主要因素,而工作信息传导不畅、城镇生活保障缺失等则是农民工迁移的主要障碍。结论 未来应以产业布局为抓手,充分发挥各级政府与村委会的影响作用,对农民工迁移行为进行合理引导。  相似文献

构建生态产业链的目的是为了实现废弃物的再生和循环利用,从而减少污染物的排放。本文运用博弈论方法,分析了上下游企业及政府部门在构建生态产业链问题上的不同利益动机及博弈行为。通过对博弈均衡结果的分析,得出了构建生态产业链,实现废弃物再生循环利用必须满足的条件。同时,博弈均衡的结果也为企业生态成本内部化提供了一定依据,并表明了政府部门加强监督管理的重要性。在此基础上,提出了相应的措施和建议。  相似文献
