A closer look at the determinants of international migration: decomposing cultural distance

Using a modified gravity model and three measures of cultural distance, we employ the zero-inflated negative binomial estimation technique to examine the impact of cultural distance on international migration flows. We confirm the finding of prior studies that there exists a negative relationship between composite measures of cultural distance and immigrant flows. Extending the literature, we decompose our composite cultural distance measures into their component dimensions to examine potential variability in the influences of individual dimensions on international migration. We find the cultural dimensions that reflect individualism, uncertainty avoidance, and perceived gender roles are typically more influential in determining immigrant flows than are other cultural dimensions.     

Let's put demography back into economics: Population pyramids in Excel

The economics curriculum today does not emphasize the study of population. This needs to change immediately because we are in the midst of another demographic sea change, slamming on the brakes right after a rapid acceleration during the last half of the twentieth century. Instead of glibly tossing a dependency ratio onto a slide, this article offers an easy way to improve demographic literacy using population pyramids. Simulation is used to explain the pyramid and its dynamic properties, and then real-world data are presented. Microsoft Excel's ability to act as a browser and download data with a single click of a button provides a flexible, powerful tool to explore historic, current, and predicted age-distributions of various countries. 民营企业迁移的影响因素及迁移策略研究

近年来,企业跨区域迁移活动日益活跃,已经引起众多学者和政策制订者的广泛关注,企业迁移是企业决策者综合考虑企业各种内部和外部因素之后做出的战略选择。根据企业迁移的需要,存在着生存型、机会型和政策型迁移等类型,通过采取成本领先型、差异型、群聚型以及多元化等各种企业迁移策略,可以谋求新的竞争优势。     

农村劳动力转移影响因素分析:29个省市的经验数据

在分析和评价传统理论和已有文献的基础上,突破单一的城乡收入差距影响农村劳动力转移的传统思维,构建出农村劳动力转移不仅受迁移地非农收入的实际效用因素的影响,受迁移成本变动因素影响的理论模型。根据全国29个省市1995-2006年的面板数据,经过单位根检验和协整关系检验,利用回归模型,估计分析了非农收入的实际效用因素和非农收入成本因素对农村劳动力转移的影响度。城乡收入差距、非农产业生产总值比率与农村劳动力转移呈正相关,城乡消费支出比率、城镇失业率分别作为农村劳动力转移的直接价格成本和就业风险成本与农村劳动力转移呈负相关关系。要进一步促进我国农村劳动力向城镇的合理转移,必须从两个方面着手:一是提高非农收入的实际效用,二是降低非农收入的成本率。

大型工程移民问题一直是一项世界性难题,政府与移民是这项难题的两大主角。南水北调中线水源区居民在长达半个世纪的移民历程中与政府进行着长期的重复的动态博弈。政府作为政策的供给者,在制定政策制度时应该考虑政策需求者的利益。因此政策制度应该随着移民与政府博弈均衡态的调整而调整。

建立了氢化物发生原子荧光光谱法（HG-AFS）同时测定进出口玻璃食具、器皿中砷、锑迁移量的方法．并对HG-AFS工作参数及条件进行了优化和选择。As检出限为0．02μg/L．Sb检出限为0．03μg／L;回收率范围为96％～101％。本法操作简便、快速、灵敏度高,应用于进出口玻璃食具、器皿中砷、锑迁移量的检测取得了满意的结果。     

Labour migration in a model of North-South trade

A dynamic general eqilibrium model of the world economy is adopted to examine the benefits and drawbacks of labour migration to each of the participatingregions. It is demonstrated that, especially in the long term, the migration of workers may be mutually beneficial: the region of immigration making production gains, while that of emigration perceives a higher demand for its products. In contrast to previous results, it is shown that no immigration limits would be imposed even if migrants' incomes were taxed and, indeed, differentiated payments to immigrants is suboptimal

改革开放以来,我国农村劳动力持续向非农产业转移,转移方式包括就地转移和异地转移。分析了我国农村劳动力两种转移模式的互动特征、内外制约因素及其社会经济效应。两种转移模式呈明显的轮替关系,转移模式失衡和被动调整是改革开放后一阶段收入分配效应降低的重要原因。

随着中国经济的快速发展,经济转型期的到来,农村劳动力的转移对中国经济发展的重要性日益凸显出来。"民工荒"的进一步加剧,"三农"问题的重要性,都迫使我们进一步研究我国农村劳动力转移的新思路。本文拟从中外农村劳动力转移的对比中,试图探索中国农村劳动力转移的新路径。
