This paper analyzes two modes of innovation that differ in their scope of newness — innovation generation and adoption. Building a theoretical model based on the Entrepreneurial Orientation literature and utilizing a unique sample of innovating firms, we find that 54% adopt innovations of other firms, 7% generate innovations internally whereas 39% combine the two. We also find that proactivity and risk taking influence the number of innovations generated and the extent to which firms favor generation over adoption and that environmental dynamism moderates one of these relationships. These findings add to the innovation and Entrepreneurial Orientation literatures.  相似文献

Goals or aspirations and their relationships to risk taking and performance are important issues in both psychology and strategic management. The concept of adaptive aspirations, as discussed in Cyert and March's Behavioral Theory of the Firm, has long been a topic of interest in both fields. Moreover, many studies in strategy have focused on risk and/or extreme performance. In the current paper, we build on earlier models of adaptive aspirations. We introduce into the models a new risk preference function that incorporates changes in risk preference at extremes of performance. Based on empirical studies and the managerial literature, we also introduce alternative strategies for setting reference groups. Simulations of the resulting models suggest important differences in outcomes from earlier studies and this invites further empirical investigation. Past research has given contradictory answers to the question of how strategic change is linked to firm size and performance. This paper resolves the contradictory predictions of performance feedback theory and threat rigidity theory by positing that small and large firms have distinct responses to performance because of differences in risk aversion and internal rigidity. To examine these differences, it is necessary to distinguish risk taking from rigidity in the strategic position, which is accomplished by separate analysis of the amount of resource acquisition and the difference of acquired and existing resources. 产业转移是区域经济发展中的重要问题,产业转移有其客观规律。虽然学界对于高梯度地区的产业转向低梯度地区的可行性存在争论,但梯度转移的趋势是客观存在的。四川省在承接产业转移过程中既存在着资源、市场、灾后重建契机等明显优势,又面临着市场化水平不高、居民收入低下、产业发展缺乏长效机制等若干挑战。文章对此进行了归纳和分析,并提出了促进四川承接产业转移的对策和建议。  相似文献

文章基于风险承担与保险对冲视角,考察董事高管责任保险对企业差异化战略的影响及其作用机理。研究发现:董事高管责任保险的风险对冲效应有助于管理层实施差异化战略,在民企以及诉讼风险较高的企业中,董事高管责任保险发挥更强的风险兜底作用;当采用高管海外经历作为工具变量控制潜在的内生性问题后,结论依然稳健。进一步分析表明,董事高管责任保险主要通过“激励效应”而非“自利效应”影响管理层实施差异化战略,且购买董事高管责任保险的企业风险承担水平较高、战略进攻性较强以及研发创新较多(研发型专利和外观型专利)。文章研究结论不仅丰富了董事高管责任保险和企业差异化战略的相关文献,还有助于全面认知董事高管责任保险的公司治理效应,为董事高管责任的全面推广及企业战略决策的选择提供了经验证据。  相似文献

The consumption of experiences (as opposed to products) has seen an increasing amount of research attention in recent years. A key aspect of the experiential consumption journey is how the experience is consumed. For instance, people almost invariably take pictures during highly enjoyable experiences such as vacations or important family events. Although past research has suggested that taking pictures may enhance the enjoyment of moderately enjoyable experiences, the effect of picture taking on the real‐time enjoyment of highly enjoyable experiences is not clear. To address this matter, the authors investigate whether taking pictures affects consumers’ enjoyment of highly enjoyable hedonic experiences. A series of laboratory studies demonstrate that taking pictures (compared with not taking pictures) can decrease enjoyment of highly enjoyable experiences. This study suggests that, by constantly striving to document their experiences, consumers may unwittingly fail to enjoy those experiences to the fullest. These results have implications for how firms may best stage experiential offerings to enhance their customers’ experiences.  相似文献
