Religion and political economy in Saint-Simon

Abstract

The project of Henri Saint-Simon (1760–1825) was to complete the French Revolution by a social change in order to eliminate the so-called “feudal-military” system and to bring about a new society which he named “the industrial system”. Everything had to be changed, including religion and its relation to political economy. In this paper, I examine: (i) the recurring problem of religion, raised by Saint-Simon as early as his first text; (ii) the emergence of the economic problem of identifying production with politics; (iii) and finally, the metamorphosis of the Christian religion into a moral and industrial religion.     

实验经济学视角下的宗教研究:信仰与行为

宗教对经济的影响已受到越来越广泛的重视。宗教通过价值观和信仰团体对经济个体的行为产生影响,进而影响经济。作者针对宗教对个体亲社会行为的影响,从宗教虔诚度测量方法的角度,对现有的文献的研究成果进行分类比较分析,讨论现有研究存在的问题以及未来可能的研究方向,以期为我国宗教社会科学的研究提供新的工具和分析视角。     

希腊债务危机对欧洲认同的影响分析

希腊债务危机引发了欧洲认同危机：欧元信用受到质疑、在救助希腊问题上欧盟成员国的意见分歧、欧洲民众对欧元的信心动摇和欧盟的救助无力等因素弱化了欧洲认同。欧洲货币联盟的结构性缺陷、希腊债务危机中欧盟成员国对国家利益的维护和民族认同的差异是其主要原因。消除希腊债务危机对欧洲认同负面影响的出路在于缩小欧元区成员国的经济差距、加强成员国之间的团结和合作、建立欧元区财政合作机制、增强欧盟层面的领导力,并在此过程中强化欧洲认同。

Religiosity and social trust: evidence from Canada

Using the latest wave of the Canadian Ethnic Diversity Survey, I investigate whether religious identity and religious intensity associate with the degree to which people trust others, controlling for a wide range of characteristics. The analysis shows that Canadian Roman Catholics are appreciably less trusting than mainline Protestants, and religious nones are situated in between these two groups. With regard to religious intensity, I find that higher commitment negatively correlates with trust in unknown others for Roman Catholics. The reverse is true for Protestants. Results also show stark cross-denominational variations within Protestantism, as two highly committed denominations of Mennonite and Pentecostal are found to be the most and the least trusting religious groups in Canada. No non-Christian religious minority is found statistically significantly less trusting than Canadian Roman Catholics. Considering particularized trust in one’s neighbours and co-workers yields comparable conclusions.     

Airport performance in a tourism receiving country: Evidence from Greece

The aim of this study is to estimate the performance of 38 Greek airports. The analysis is performed in two stages. Firstly, efficiency scores for each airport are estimated using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) original and bootstrap techniques. Secondly, statistical assessments (Mann–Whitney U and Kruskal–Wallis tests) and a censored Tobit regression model are employed to identify which factors significantly explain variations in the airport efficiency. The results indicated the scope for substantial efficiency improvements. In addition, island location, connectivity, and hotel infrastructure in the area were found to be significant factors affecting airport efficiency.     

中国古代艺徒制对构建现代学徒制的启示

建立中国现代学徒制不仅要借鉴外国的经验，更多的是要从其自身的历史与嬗变中寻找能够借鉴的东西。中国古代艺徒制中就有许多值得借鉴之处。艺徒制作为集技能操作和德育素养于一体的全方位人才培养方式。其在官府宏观控制地实施过程中体现出来的“职业实践”、“言传身教”、“能力考评”、“德育观念”等特点至今有深刻的教育意义，对建立中国特色的现代学徒制有着重要的启示。     

从“国学热”看传统文化

随着中国综合国力的不断提升，国人对于传统文化的热情也与日俱增。在“国学热”现象背后，我们确实应该思考何谓国学，分析中国人对待以国学为核心的传统文化的心路历程，思索我们究竟应该如何看待传统文化，进而找到一条既吸取传统文化的精华，又不盲目排斥外来文化，两者相互融合相互借鉴的理性之路。     

Tourism's regional development impacts : A comparative analysis of the Greek islands

This paper explores the conditions that determine tourism development and theorizes how these conditions lead to a variety of impacts on host communities. Thirty-eight Greek islands were statistically analyzed using secondary data and a smaller sample was studied in greater detail through a comparative case-study approach. While the quantity of tourism development was found to be subject to demand, its quality and integration with other sectors were associated with the size of the community. Tourism impacts were found to be beneficial in larger islands. In smaller islands with high tourist activity, while a reverse in declining demographic patterns has been observed, tourism was found to create unstable, short-term, and dualistic development. The paper concludes that factors such as the local institutional capacity to absorb development and the potential interaction of locals and tourists should be considered in the making of tourism policy.
