Using data envelopment analysis and the Malmquist productivity index, this paper studies productivity efficiency of various airlines in China after the Chinese government deregulated the aviation industry in 2005. The results show that the productivity efficiency of non-state-owned airlines improves rapidly and eventually exceeds state-owned airlines after the deregulation policy. Among the state-owned airlines, the productivity of the local airlines and their technical changes are better than those of the central airlines. 相似文献

In this paper, we are proposing a multi-objective mathematical model for the selection of a newly constructed hub and spoke system. The objectives of this model are maximizing aircraft utilization and revenue whilst reducing the commercially infeasible network detour factor. The sensitivity analysis of the model is tackled using weights related to the objectives as well as the network detour factor. The number of available aircraft and the range that an aircraft can reach are also considered in this model. Since Istanbul has already got a hub and spoke system with busy airports on both sides of the city, the model is applied to three other major cities of Turkey, Ankara, Antalya, and Izmir. The test data consists of over 90 cities in Europe and in the Middle East. The data includes unit passenger revenues and operating costs for the segments, distances between cities and hubs, expected load factors and flying times of segments. The scenarios are tested under specific expectations of airline network experts and the results are visualized by using Pareto front graphs. Compared to other candidates, Antalya stands out as a good choice for a new hub and spoke system in Turkey. The results of this model could be helpful for airlines and other airports in Turkey in order to identify their potential and competitive position in relation to their counterparts. 相似文献

Transformational tourism is an emerging form of tourism that deserves better attention from researchers and reviewers. This article provides a better understanding of the phenomenon, its varieties and its different stages, drawing on the metaphor of Campbell's archetypical journey of transformation: hero's journey. Using a phenomenological approach, the article tries to shed some light upon the conditions of the touristic experiences that foster transformation. Eight factors were identified: personal situation, being away doing unfamiliar activities, interaction with people, live the moment, difficulty, setting, reflection and integration. The three stages of the hero's journey (departure, initiation and return) are subsequently applied to describe the transformative travel process. AbstractRetailers need to determine the performance of their individual stores and, beyond the stores, the managers in charge of running them. The aim of this paper is to develop performance standards that can be applied to fairly distribute rewards to managers regarding their performances by taking into account store neighbourhood characteristics. In order to propose a fairer measure of store performance, the authors introduce and explore the concepts of organizational justice and store efficiency. They use real data from a French supermarket chain and a geomarketing approach. The two-step Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model results are compared with a retailer’s ranking. The retailer tends to favour points of sale having a more important sales area, with more employees and operating in a more densely populated area with a higher buying power. Despite significant reforms of the banking system, the existing market in which Chinese banks operate is reminiscent of a cartel. On the basis of illustrations relying on ‘game theory’, the interactions between the credit allocations of state banks and private-controlled banks are highlighted. The very particular status of public banks creates serious barriers to the convergence of credit allocations towards more transparent and more cautious practices. Domestic acquisitions of firms in emerging markets have so far evaded scholarly interest. This article contributes to closing this gap by looking into the drivers of cross-province acquisitions in the People's Republic of China, covering 569 deals in manufacturing industry conducted between 1999 and 2012. Drawing on the resource-based view, this study looks at prior Chief Executive Officer (CEO) experience and organizational slack as two drivers of cross-province acquisitions, and analyses the moderating effects of firm ownership types and the location of an acquiring firm. The results show that private firms having CEOs with experience outside of the home province are the drivers of cross-province acquisitions in China. 相似文献

In this paper, we revisit optimal choice of invoice currency for an exporting firm in the face of exchange rate uncertainty. We demonstrate that when a vehicle currency is available, the optimum choice depends not only on the volatility of the exchange rates but the covariance between them as well. In particular, we show that when the exchange rates between the exporter and importer currencies on the one hand, and the exporter and the vehicle currency on the other, are positively correlated, vehicle currency becomes an attractive choice. The intuition underlying this novel outcome is that this regime dampens profit variability for the exporter. 相似文献

This study examines the effects of brand's sports sponsorship in social media on brand consumer's congruity and brand relationship quality. The study included a survey of targeting consumers whose ages range between early twenties and late forties; data from 322 respondents were collected. The results are as follows. First, brand's sports sponsorship in social-media activities relating to sports brands has significant effects on brand consumer's congruity. Second, this congruity significantly influences brand relationship quality. Third, male consumers, who have previously purchased products and services associated with a sports brand, perceive the sponsor's brand image more positively when they are exposed to the sponsor's brand's sports sponsorship in social-media activities, compared to those consumers having no previous purchases of the sponsored brand. Lastly, consumers in their forties with prior experience consuming the sponsor's brand products are most affected by the level of self-congruity with the sports brand compared to younger or older consumers. 相似文献

Several scholars have proposed a new service development (NSD) process but the failure rate of NSD is high, due to the lack of an efficient development process and customer orientation and input. Quality function deployment (QFD) is one of the structured methodologies that is used to translate customer needs into specific quality development, but the effect should be improved, especially when used in service industries applications. This research integrated Kano's model with QFD to categorize the attitude, and proposed a revised improved ratio to strengthen the rise in customer satisfaction, then through the revised gap model the gaps are evaluated to provide an indicator to the manager about the importance, priority and direction of the service development.
