In this paper, we consider nonparametric identification and estimation of first-price auction models when N∗, the number of potential bidders, is unknown to the researcher, but observed by bidders. Exploiting results from the recent econometric literature on models with misclassification error, we develop a nonparametric procedure for recovering the distribution of bids conditional on the unknown N∗. Monte Carlo results illustrate that the procedure works well in practice. We present illustrative evidence from a dataset of procurement auctions, which shows that accounting for the unobservability of N∗ can lead to economically meaningful differences in the estimates of bidders’ profit margins. 相似文献

The primary objective of this article was to determine key factors affecting the frequency of consumer visits to farmers’ markets. Data were obtained from in-person surveys administered in two farmers’ markets locations in Texas, and used to determine consumer factors, market factors, and socio-demographic characteristics of shoppers influencing frequency of visits. The results of the model showed that travel distance, number of adults in the household, market promotional activities such as entertainment and education, food events, and, to a lesser degree, some demographic variables were all determinants of frequency of visits to farmers’ markets. The negative effect of the distance to the market highlights the importance of farmers’ market location and influences the demographic profile of buyers as most visitors tend to shop in nearby markets. Thus, results also suggest that demographics characteristics are a weak predictor of farmers’ markets interest. 相似文献

This article develops and tests a segmentation scheme for the U.S. Hispanic market based on the extent and nature of acculturation. Acculturation is conceptualized as driven by language preferences and two dimensions of cultural identification, Hispanic and American. Structural equation modeling develops and assesses the proposed scales, and a latent class clustering procedure (latent discriminant analysis) tests propositions on a sample of 403 U.S. Hispanics. Consistent with theory, four clusters of U.S. Hispanics emerge: retainers, biculturals, assimilators, and non-identifiers that vary according to language preference and cultural identification. 相似文献

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an increasingly important topic in management, especially in organizational behavior field across the globe; however, this concept is still in its infancy in Pakistan. In this study, we examined the effect of employees’ perceptions about CSR on their Desire to have a Significant Impact through Work (DSIW). We suggested the serial mediation of organizational identification and organizational pride in this relationship. The time-lag data of middle managers were collected from a well-known Pakistani firm that is actively engaged in CSR. The data consist of 187 observations and were analyzed using structural equation modeling in AMOS software. The results show that CSR positively affects employees’ identification that in turn make employees proud of their organizational membership and finally pride leads to employees’ DSIW. The study contributes in CSR and organizational behavior literature and provides managerial implication to enhance the positive psychological state of employees. 相似文献
