Affirmative action is defined as the steps taken to end the absence in jobs, schools, and honored positions of members of groups that have been subordinated. Its purpose is to reduce discrimination, to reduce income disparities between groups, and to promote diversity by gender and race in every role and activity. The persistence of occupational segregation by sex and race to a degree that cannot be explained by differences in qualifications or voluntary behavior testifies to the need for further action. The paper examines a quantity–location duopoly game in a spatial discrimination model in which the delivered goods are assumed to be imperfect substitutes or complements. By extending the range of the unit transportation cost analysed in the existing literature, it is shown that a dispersed equilibrium arises in which the choice of the optimal locations is affected by the degree of product substitutability. The interaction between the latter and the size of the transportation cost is also discussed in order to verify its welfare implications. Two issues common to tourism planning are investigated in the context of a current planning proposal between the British Columbia and Canadian governments. These issue are the problem of spatial imbalance in travel patterns and the place of camping in market development strategies. Through the use of multiple regression two group discriminatory analysis, several characteristic of metropolitan and campers visitor to British Columbia are differentiated. The dominant tourist position of British Columbia's two metropolitan centers is shown to be a function of their relative location and the availability of familiar visits. The campers proved to be independent travellers: independent of familial ties and metropolitan locations. Some implications and planning strategies for the integration of these two groups into the travel industry development objectives for the province of British Columbia are suggested. 相似文献

This paper deals with the phenomenon of clearance sales of fashion type goods which have an intertemporal aspect similar to durable goods. Using the Van Praag and Bode (1992) model, the case of clearance sales in a store selling more than one commodity is analyzed. Conditions and rules of thumb are shown in which it is optimal to increase the price of one product while decreasing the price of another. The terms Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) refer to a neurological impairment that affects the individual's ability to sustain attention and to behave in a calm, rational manner.

Although this disorder has long been considered to be restricted to childhood, recent research has demonstrated that many children carry it over into adult life and take it with them into the workplace. Most U.S. courts have treated AD/HD as a disability covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

However, in the summer of 1999, the U.S. Supreme Court made three decisions that will undoubtedly affect the future status of AD/HD and other impairments under the ADA. This article examines those decisions, how they affect the employment rights of AD/HD-afflicted employees, and the changes they will probably bring to litigation in this area. 为了分析发债主体所有制性质对公司债发行定价影响的作用机理,从信用评级高估的假设出发,将所有制性质的定价作用区分为直接效应和间接效应,基于贝叶斯法则得出两个推断:评级高估会导致发债主体所有制性质对公司债发行定价的直接效应;高信用等级公司债发行定价会受到发债主体所有制性质的直接影响,低信用等级公司债则不然。通过对2007—2013年沪深两市公开发行的公司债进行实证分析,推断得到了验证。这些分析有利于剖析民营企业融资歧视的形成机制。 相似文献
