鄱阳湖区堤防建设与鄱阳湖湿地保护

江西省鄱阳湖区堤防工程建设部分圩堤邻近鄱阳湖国家级自然保护区，根据建设项目的特点及鄱阳湖湿地保护区的环境特征，就堤防工程施工对鄱阳湖湿地生态环境的影响进行了研究，并提出了相应的保护对策和措施。     

Currents and Temperatures in Green Bay,Lake Michigan

Current velocities and water temperatures were measured in the four main passages between Green Bay and Lake Michigan and at several sites within the bay during summer and fall 1977. Monthly resultant currents indicate there is anticlockwise circulation in the bay during dominant southwesterly wind and a reversal of this pattern during episodes of northeasterly wind. It is common for two layers to flow through the mouth of the bay in opposite directions during the stratified season. Cold hypolimnetic lake water entering through the mouth and extending far into the bay maintains stratification and promotes flushing. The effects of resonance of forced and free long wave disturbances are prominent in current records; these oscillations are coherent and in phase across the mouth.     

Occurrence and Transport of Organic Microcontaminants in the Duluth-Superior Harbor

A large number of organic compounds were identified in sediments and suspended solids from St. Louis Bay in the Duluth harbor. Most of the organic compounds appeared to be naturally occurring plant decomposition products consisting of non-halogenated hydrocarbons, organic acids, aldehydes, ketones, amines, esters, alcohols, and phenols. However, the presence of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) were confirmed by GC/MS methods. Particulate levels of PAH compounds such as fluorene, fluoranthene, and pyrene were found to lie in the 0.2 to 3 μg/g range. PCBs associated with suspended particles from St. Louis Bay and the Superior harbor were at concentrations of 0.2 to 0.9 μg/g and less than 0.1 μg/g, respectively. Measurements of PCBs in water from the St. Louis Bay showed an average value of 19 ng/L. Considering the concentration of PCBs in water and particulates in conjunction with average suspended solids levels, it was calculated that 81% of the PCBs were dissolved in water and 19% associated with suspended particles. It was estimated that suspended solid transport of PCBs and PAH to Lake Superior is less than 0.01% of airborne transport.     

Downstream Migration,Population Size,and Feeding of Juvenile Rainbow Trout

Emigration of juvenile rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) from a tributary of Lake Superior was associated with receding water levels and rising water temperatures (peaking in mid-June). According to 1973 and 1979 estimates, about 23,000 juvenile rainbow trout inhabited the creek each year. Eleven major taxa of benthic organisms were collected in 1972, of which 88% were Diptera and Trichoptera. From a total of 136 stomaches examined, general agreement was found between benthos in the creek and food taxa utilized by the fish. However, the smaller fish (< 7 cm)fed more on benthic organisms than terrestrial insects, while the larger fish (> 14 cm) consumed more terrestrial insects than benthos.
