Outlay equivalence analysis of child gender bias in household expenditure data

This article reports the results of an empirical analysis of gender‐based discrimination among children based on household consumption data from Uzbekistan. We employ the outlay equivalence methodology to examine whether the entry of a new child leads to different effects in the decrease of adult good consumption for boys and for girls. We use a semi‐parametric estimation method to address the so‐called ‘zero consumption problem’, the statistical problem that arises because some households have zero consumption on a budget line in the period prior to the survey date. The results indicate that alcohol and tobacco reveal the incidence of discrimination against girls, while other groups of adult goods do not.     

欧洲会计准则等效机制与我国的应对

2008年底欧盟议会通过了欧盟证券监管委员会关于第三国会计准则等效的建议，在2009年年初至2011年年底三年内，将中国在内的六个国家的会计准则认定为与国际财务报告准则等效。回顾了欧盟会计等效认定机制的形成过程，并着重分析了由欧盟证券监管委员会所掌管的技术认定程序，介绍中国在寻求会计准则国际趋同过程中的努力及寻求等效的障碍。     

A stochastic characterization of Loewner optimality design criterion in linear models

In this paper we present a new stochastic characterization of the Loewner optimality design criterion. The result is obtained by proving a generalization to the well known corollary of Anderson's theorem. Certain connections between the Loewner optimality and the stochastic distance optimality design criterion are showed. We also present applications and generalizations of the main result. 农用地分等与定级成果在耕地占补平衡中应用研究--以河南省南阳市为例

运用农用地分等与定级成果来考核耕地占补平衡,可以实现耕地数量与质量并重的双赢效果。在用分等成果探讨了耕地占补平衡中等级折算的标准样地法后以南阳市为例,从农用地等指数、定级指数、作物产量等方面入手,用产量指数法分析论证了耕地占补平衡的耕地级别占补当量系数,并在此基础上运用替代原理,构建了耕地占补当量影响因素修正体系及修正系数表,给出具体应用方法,为耕地的占用与补充之间换算关系提供参考,在转化应用农用地分等定级成果上做了一些有益探索。     

如何抑制保险代理人的违规操作行为

针对我国保险中介市场中保险代理人违规操作行为日趋严重的问题,文章从保险代理人佣金制度的角度入手,运用霍姆斯特姆和米尔格罗姆的多项任务委托———代理模型对目前保险公司的代理人佣金制度进行分析,得出了如果保险公司期望代理人提高其工作质量而“质量“信息又是不可观测的,则激励佣金制度也不应用于激励代理人增加其业务数量这一结论。在文章的最后部分是关于如何激励代理人提高其业务质量的几点建议。     

冗余对等:奈达“动态对等”的动态维度

奈达的"动态对等"翻译理论对世界翻译研究和实践的发展产生了重大的影响。奈达将信息论的相关理论应用于翻译研究,提出要实现动态对等,必须要平衡译文的信息传输负载,使译文的冗余信息与原文的冗余信息对等。翻译时要调整译文的冗余信息,实现"冗余对等"。     

CERTAINTY EQUIVALENCE AND LOGARITHMIC UTILITIES IN CONSUMPTION/INVESTMENT PROBLEMS

We investigate an optimal consumption/investment decision problem with partially observable drift. Logarithmic utilities are shown to be necessary and sufficient for the certainty equivalence principle to hold. For the sufficiency part of the proof, we allow a general stochastic structure about the unobservable drift. On the other hand, a simple Bayesian structure is assumed for the necessity part in order to utilize the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations.     

Heterogeneous Dynasties and the Political Economy of Public Debt

We consider a small open overlapping generations economy with descending altruism. Heterogeneity is introduced by assuming that each parent procreates a fixed proportion of selfish children. Altruistic parents can recognize the type of each child. There is no Ricardian equivalence and an active public intergenerational transfer policy is attractive to altruistic dynasty members, although there may be no unanimity among them. We display reasonable conditions for indirect preferences to be single-peaked and we apply the median voter theorem. We then describe political equilibrium paths and discuss their compatibility with the steady path of an underlying closed economy with autonomous labor productivity growth.

Investment decisions when utility depends on wealth and other attributes

The problem of optimal investment under a multivariate utility function allows for an investor to obtain utility not only from wealth, but other (possibly correlated) attributes. In this paper we implement multivariate mixtures of exponential (mixex) utility to address this problem. These utility functions allow for stochastic risk aversions to differing states of the world. We derive some new results for certainty equivalence in this context. By specifying different distributions for stochastic risk aversions, we are able to derive many known, plus several new utility functions, including models of conditional certainty equivalence and multivariate generalisations of HARA utility, which we call dependent HARA utility. Focusing on the case of asset returns and attributes being multivariate normal, we optimise the asset portfolio, and find that the optimal portfolio consists of the Markowitz portfolio and hedging portfolios. We provide an empirical illustration for an investor with a mixex utility function of wealth and sentiment.
