The purpose of this research was to investigate the changes occurring in biscuits under domestic storage conditions. The experimental work involved the storage of manufactured biscuits under closed, open/light and open/dark conditions for appropriate periods of time. Moisture content, texture, colour and peroxide value were determined throughout the storage time. The results indicate that the moisture content of the samples increased under all storage conditions, with a softening of texture. Peroxide values increase with rapid acceleration towards the end of the storage period. Very little change was observed in the colour of the biscuits. 相似文献

The Home Heating Energy Index (HHEI), a tool for measuring energy efficiency, which integrates house size, seasonal temperature variations, and type of heating fuel, was found to be an effective measure. Using 5-year longitudinal field study data from 24 families living in a cold climate, the tool explained 77% of family energy consumption and provided a definitive benchmark for evaluating home heating energy conservation. Factors which influenced family energy consumption and/or efficiency were: (1) family energy management behaviours, including no-dollar cost behavioural changes and enhancing the energy efficiency of some mechanical system; (2) housing factors, including structural characteristics and size of house; and, (3) family contextual factors, including socio-economic status, family size and stage of family life cycle. 相似文献

Contemporary Qatari women's outer dress and clothing market source use were explored using Hamilton's1 dress as a cultural subsystem metatheory. Data were gathered by interviewing 50 Qatari female nationals. Dependent variables were traditionalism of outer dress worn in public and private situations and clothing information and acquisition sources. Independent variables were demographic characteristics of age, education, socioeconomic status, work status and travel. Analyses included correlations and t-tests. Outer dress was traditional in most public, but less so in private, situations. As age increased, clothing traditionalism increased. The most used market sources were store displays, TV, video, tailors and the suq. Store display use increased with age, while use of video, TV and salespersons increased as education decreased. Women travelled outside Qatar to acquire clothing and when travelling, most women wore non-traditional outer dress. Findings were compared with a study completed in Saudi Arabia,2 Qatari women's contemporary outer dress was less traditional and they used both traditional and non-traditional information sources and traditional acquisition sources more than Saudi women. 相似文献

This research explored comparisons between matched pairs of husbands and wives on a system of strategies used to do family food shopping. Generally, husbands and wives were similar in strategies which related to time management, store loyalty, and in-store shopping. There were notable anomalies in the conceptualization of some of the strategies, as well as significant differences in the use of task management strategies to prepare for food shopping and in the importance of various store characteristics. Suggestions for research are based on extending the role theory and systems approach in studying family food shopping. 相似文献
