AbstractAttitudes are at the heart of the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), but problems in defining and measuring attitudes have contributed to typically low ability to predict behaviour. This article investigates the impact of potential disjuncture between evaluations that an individual externally verbalises (explicit attitudes), and evaluations that are internally held and may exist outside of conscious awareness (implicit attitudes), on the predictive ability of TRA. We study consumers’ attitudes towards eating healthy food and subsequent behaviour in a context of socially consensual behaviour. An Implicit Association Test (IAT) is used to measure implicit attitudes, and these scores are contrasted with self-reported explicit attitude scores. Ninety one participants took part in the study. We found, surprisingly, that implicit attitude has no significant effect on behavioural intention. However, a disjuncture between an individual’s implicit and explicit attitudes, reflecting internal psychological conflict, affected behaviour. 相似文献

Scholars have shown that green human resource management (GHRM) practices enhance a firm's environmental performance. However, existing studies fail to explain how GHRM initiatives can enable a green organisational culture or how such a culture affects the environmental performance and sustainable development of the firm. This paper examines the relationship between GHRM practices, the enablers of green organisational culture, and a firm's environmental performance. We conduct a large‐scale survey of 204 employees at Chinese manufacturing firms. Our findings suggest that proenvironmental HRM practices including hiring, training, appraisal, and incentivisation support the development of the enablers of green organisational culture. We suggest the key enablers of green organisational culture include leadership emphasis, message credibility, peer involvement, and employee empowerment. Our paper contributes to HRM theory in terms of originality and utility of research by explaining that the enablers of green organisational culture positively mediate the relationship between GHRM practices and environmental performance. Managers are provided with a detailed understanding of the GHRM practices needed to enable an organisational culture of environmentally aware employees. Finally, we address potential implications of this work for teaching green organisational culture to future generations of responsible managers. 相似文献

Abstract
The research was undertaken during 1983 to find out why a country such as Switzerland has been able to manage innovation in a mature industry, such as machine tools, much more successfully than Britain. The methodology used was by structured interviews of Managing Directors in a sample of firms in the two important machine tool regions of Berne and Yorkshire/Humberside. The results cover the main types of innovation in products and processes, the reasons for innovation and the problems which were encountered by the companies visited. We found that the Swiss firms were strong on product innovation. The most important innovation was the introduction of computer numerical control (CNC), and the Swiss firms had on average introduced this earlier than the British firms and it accounted for a larger proportion of their turnover. The main problem for firms in both countries was in adjusting to upstream developments in electronic controls. The Swiss had better downstream market links with their customers who were mostly in foreign countries. Some British firms were handicapped by being part of company groups and used public sector grants for their innovation, whereas the largely independent Swiss firms carried out more self-financing. 相似文献

Evaluation of the performance of GDSSs has been dominated by an experimental and laboratory based approach. Other writers
have argued for evaluation to be based in the “real-world” of decision making teams. The evaluation criteria have tended to
ignore many of the issues that would be paramount for some of the stakeholders in the evaluation process. This article seeks
to explore the criteria that might be used by a wide variety of stakeholders, including developers, facilitators, clients,
key actors, vendors, as well as academics. By drawing together the criteria associated with all of the stakeholders we discover
a broader, and possibly more thorough, framework for evaluation. The evaluation of any particular GDSS in relation to other
GDSSs can then be seen in the context of contingent weighting applied to each of the criteria where each GDSS is able to be
seen in its best light and in relation to its declared aims.
This article argues for a more eclectic and contingent approach to the evaluation of GDSSs which will encourage their future
development to be clearer about purpose and the boundaries of their use. 相似文献

ABSTRACTMarketing managers use anticipation as a marketing tool, particularly for new or improved products, services or experiences. Academic interest in consumer anticipation has focused on its outcomes, especially effects on the forthcoming substantive consumption. However, inadequate attention has been given to consumer anticipation as a complex process per se. A systematic review of the literature arrives at a conceptual definition which sees consumer anticipation as a mental process by which consumers consider the physical, experiential, social, emotional or behavioural consumption outcomes that are expected to accrue to the self from a yet to be realised consumption decision or experience. Antecedents of consumer anticipation, its underlying mental processes and consequences are identified and discussed. Frameworks for operationalising consumer anticipation in practical contexts are discussed. 相似文献

Democracy across Gender Diversity and Ethnicity of Middle Eastern SMEs: How Does Performance Differ?

This paper examines the relationship between boards of directors' demographic diversity and firms' financial performance. In particular, we highlight how women and ethnic minorities can affect Middle Eastern SMEs' financial performance. Using an unbalanced panel of 1,855 firm‐year observations of 371 boards of directors from nine Middle Eastern countries, our results support the positive impact of women and ethnic minority group members on Middle Eastern firms' performance. However, our evidence implies that when Western ethnic minority members increase, firms' performances tend to decrease, because these board members are appointed for regional and international board reputation legitimacy, personal business agendas, and links to the external corporate environment. 相似文献

The impact of facilitation upon group meetings has been a topic of research and debate for over 40 years. However, with the
emergence and increasing usage of Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS), the role of facilitators is once more being addressed.
Facilitators aim to substantially increase the effectiveness of group working, making meetings more productive and efficient
through the management of both content and process. However, while the benefit that facilitators can bring is acknowledged,
developing the necessary skills and techniques is more problematic. There are few manuals for would-be faciliators to draw
upon, and much of their ability is acquired through experience. This article therefore attempts to increase the knowledge
available and to provide facilitators with some practical suggestions. The research focuses on a series of interviews with
group members (participants) who had used a particular GDSS—Strategic Options Development and Analysis (SODA)—for organizational
decision making. From the analysis of the interviews, a number of reoccurring issues were identified which are presented as
a set of learning points. These cover not only the workshop/meeting itself, but also the pre-workshop and post-workshop stages.
The article also reflects on the impact which these identified learning points have on design and future GDSS development. 相似文献
