A dialectical relationship exists between the capitalist desire for accumulation of wealth and profits, and the rights of
employees. Labor process theory exposes facets of the fundamental incongruity between the interests of employers and workers
in a capitalist political economy. An analysis of employee rights through the labor process framework facilitates the potential
for human emancipation by illuminating the ideological, political, and economic sources of domination and repression that
are embedded in the capitalist system. In this article, three core elements of labor process theory—the social relations of
production, the managerial control imperative, and the restructuring of work—are used to highlight ways in which organizations
maintain their hegemonic position. This exposé offers the basis for an alternative paradigmatic view of the employment relationship
and informs our thinking of how employee rights are impacted, and often tempered, in work organizations.

Technology roadmapping provides a strategic tool to help companies develop an outside‐in view and challenge their current competitive perspectives. In this paper, the authors describe the roadmapping process, which is aligned, with the research and development (R&D) strategy of an applied research centre. This process is based in an adapted combination of state‐of‐the‐art methodologies, and as a result, the case study shows interesting findings in terms of R&D strategy, technology strategy and roadmapping processes and methodology. 相似文献

In 1960, the Federal Aviation Administration put in place the Age 60 rule forcing airline pilots to retire upon reaching the age of 60 years. This paper uses data from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration to determine if having pilots above 59 years of age carries a social cost. Statistical evidence indicates that the severity of aircraft accidents is related to pilot age for some classes of pilots but not for others. Findings are that small-airplane accidents tend to be more severe for pilots over 59 with private and commercial licenses than for younger pilots with equal qualifications. Thus, some (though not convincing) evidence suggests that private and commercial pilots above 59 years of age impose a greater social cost on the flying public than do younger pilots. However, among ATP pilots—that is, those who are licensed to fly large airplanes—no evidence indicates that pilots over 59 have more severe accidents when flying small airplanes than do younger ATP pilots flying such airplanes. Moreover, no evidence indicates that age is a factor in serious and fatal accidents for ATP pilots flying large airplanes up to the mandatory retirement age of 60 years. The extra screening and training of ATP pilots may explain the differences in accident severity between these and other pilots. 相似文献

In 1960 the Federal Aviation Administration in the United states put in place the age 60 rule that required airline pilots to retire upon reaching the age of 60 years. This rule has been challenged on numerous occasions, but the FAA has not changed the rule. A logit model is used to analyse accidents and incidents for 1989. Such factors as piolt training and experience, aircraft characteristics and whether are considered in analysing the impact of pilot age (to age 65) on accidents. Age is not found to be a statistically significant factor for pilots in three licence classes. This study provides indirect evidence that the age 60 rule may be unwarranted. 相似文献

This study ranks contributors to the economics profession using the textbook citation method. A survey of professors in 35
top-tier departments of economics produced a list of the most often used graduate-level microeconomics, macroeconomics, and
econometrics texts. The textbooks identified from the survey are evaluated in this study for citations to journal articles.
Authors of journal articles cited in textbooks are ranked according to the number of times their works are cited in textbooks.
The results are compared to the findings of recent studies using different methods. Different methodologies are found to produce
