Strategy for lifelong learning in vocational schools of tourism education

Learning is the accumulated knowledge acquired from the experiences of individuals. Lifelong learning concept for adult learners is vital to reveal and sustain their knowledge creation experience. Lifelong Learning can be defined as the ability to develop an individual’s skills, knowledge and skills social, individual, and professional. This study addresses the concept of lifelong education. Lifelong education is provided through informal, formal and non-formal education processes. This research relies on documentary analysis. It was applied the key arguments for the research focus. The relationship between technology and lifelong learning is becoming more important. The importance of lifelong learning in tourism education is increasing. The vocational school can create lifelong opportunities for the tourism industry. These research explained that some perspectives of lifelong learning; such as dimensions, benefits and barriers. Additionally, the chapter proposes a perspective on the lifelong learning strategy in tourism education and discuss concept of lifelong learning, in regard to the literature. It is the most important factor that reflects the training and professional development of the staff and the competitive power of the tourism product directly and indirectly. Vocational schools should develop programs in line with the expectations of tourism enterprises.     

The impact of political instability on risk‐taking in the banking sector: International evidence using a dynamic panel data model (System‐GMM)

This paper contributes to the existing literature by investigating the impact of political instability risk on risk‐taking in the banking sector of 75 countries, which is the first attempt for this nexus to the best of our knowledge. The dynamic panel data model (System‐GMM) showed that political instability risk significantly increases risk‐taking in the banking sector. Besides, corruption levels and government ineffectiveness are the most important channels of political instability that affect the banking sector risk. The results also actively support the “too big to fail” hypothesis. Finally, the robustness results confirm the conclusions derived from the baseline System‐GMM model.     

Quality function deployment application for improving quality of education in business schools

There is an increasing competition between universities globally to attract students. At this point, to compete, it is imperative for the universities to improve the quality of education provided for their stakeholders, including students, parents, and employers. For improving the quality of education, first of all, the universities should make efforts to understand stakeholder expectations, by analyzing their needs and wants. For this purpose, the authors incorporated the quality function deployment technique with fuzzy analytical network process. Due to the vagueness present in the evaluation of relative importance of the criteria for higher education, fuzzy set theory is integrated.
