This paper analyzes regional price differentials in Poland at the NUTS-2 and NUTS-3 levels. It applies unique raw-price data and calculates regional purchasing power parity (PPP) deflators for the 16 NUTS-2 regions. It then estimates PPP deflators for the 66 NUTS-3-level regions by applying the multiple imputation approach. Finally, it verifies whether these are intra- or interregional price inequalities that have a greater influence on the overall price inequality level. It is found that the price levels are significantly higher than the average in the better-developed regions and lower in the lagging ones. It is also found that it is the intra- rather than the interregion differentials that influence more the overall inequality level.  相似文献

The two economic superpowers, Japan and the United States, have different patterns of contribution by their female populations. The authors travelled to Japan to research and observe firsthand the contributions made and the roles filled by the Japanese female. A comparison of costs and benefits to each country created by the different roles of females is discussed. Questions such as the following are explored:
  • Does the Japanese female contribution to child-rearing and nurturing of new coporate members outweigh her lost contribution to the workplace?
  • Has the United States gained or lost ground economically due to women integrating the American workplace?
  • Will Japanese women be content to be on the fringes of the economic system for another generation?
  • What is the likely future scenario for the workplace for both economic superpowers?

The authors examine the relationship between gender and organizational justice perceptions and the implications of this relationship for organizing women. They employ a survey study design to confirm expectations associated with the anecdotal literature on this topic, namely that women place greater value on interactional justice than on distributive or procedural justice. Results indicate that gender leads to valuing interactional justice more highly only in interaction with race. Specifically, in contrast to white women and both white and black men, black women give greater weight to being treated with dignity and respect than to the other two organizational justice dimensions.

Technological progress has led to increasing importance of the international division of labour organized around global production and distribution networks. Multinational corporations have been a driving force behind these developments. This article studies the role of MNCs in integrating a host country into the international system of division of labour in the context of Poland. It provides evidence of Poland's increasing participation in global production and distribution networks that is taking place through FDI inflows. It concludes that, thanks to a large volume of FDI inflows, Poland's exports driven by production fragmentation will continue to expand at even faster rates than those observed in recent years.  相似文献

Rising income inequality in the 1990s was used to examine the links between micro- and macro-justice. Data from a sample of 119 managers and 334 union members supported our hypothesis that those who more strongly endorsed equality norms at the micro-justice level perceived macro-level income inequality as more unjust. Looking at two key subgroups, our hypothesis that union members were more likely than managers to endorse an equality norm was not supported. Yet managers were significantly more likely than union members to endorse an equity norm at the micro level, as predicted. Finally, our fourth hypothesis that the equality norm mediates the relationship between union membership and perceived injustice was not supported.  相似文献

This paper provides an overview of women's motivations and potential as philanthropists. It includes demographic information that can help fundraisers approach and communicate with women of different generations and life stages. The conclusions are based on qualitative research conducted by the author and others. It explores some of the barriers to women's giving and offers specific recommendations for involving more women as donors. Finally, it explains how women as donors will help transform the fundraising profession and prepare nonprofit institutions for a changed funding environment in the future.  相似文献

This study centers on the premise that entrepreneurship is an embedded process. Although “the entrepreneur” is inherently an “individual,” entrepreneurship can never be fully disembedded from the more general social settings within which any business venture is situated. An Islamic‐based economic discursive framework should be cognizant of the different forms of sociality, spatiality, and community as well as the various norms, codes, and symbols that define society more generally. The work of Karl Polanyi on embeddedness is engaged and juxtaposed with Islam's understanding of the ideal mode of economic discursive practices. Islamic economic models and Polanyi are both critical of the corrosive effects of unbridled capitalism and individualism that ultimately lead to reification and exploitation. The conclusion recommends more small‐N case studies by researchers and entrepreneurial educational materials that emphasize the importance of networks and local embeddedness.  相似文献

RESUME:  Après une présentation sommaire de l'histoire de l'économie sociale en France, l' article retrace l'origine du projet de compte satellite de l'économie sociale. Il montre ensuite que les coopératives, mutuelles, associations et fondations sont invisibles dans le cadre central les comptes nationaux. Dans un second temps, il se focalise sur le compte satellite des Institutions Sans But Lucratif préconisé par un Manuel des Nations unies, dont il présente la méthodologie adaptée à la France et les principaux résultats. La conclusion insiste sur la réflexion et les sources nouvelles nécessaires pour terminer un compte de l'économie sociale.  相似文献
