Carrying through decisions in organisations is inherently micro-level, while the aggregated performance implication of decisions is a macro-level phenomena. This paper determines through exploratory factor analysis, factors associated with airline performance using a two-level bottom–up hierarchical approach. The determinant factors are used to test, through regression analysis, the relationship across lower and higher level factors and between the higher level factors and performance (distress versus non-distress). The results showed that airlines having higher relative score on productivity and brand image were less likely to be under financial distress, while airlines having higher relative emphasis on market power were more likely to be under financial distress. 相似文献

We compare different preference restrictions that ensure the existence of a stable roommate matching. Some of these restrictions are generalized to allow for indifferences as well as incomplete preference lists, in the sense that an agent may prefer remaining single to matching with some agents. We also introduce a new type of cycles and in greater detail investigate the domain of preferences that have no such cycles. In particular, we show how the absence of these cycles relates to the “symmetric utilities hypothesis” by Rodrigues-Neto (J Econ Theory 135:545–550, 2007) when applied to roommate problems with weak preferences. 相似文献

Many new-entrant carriers enjoyed fast growth and by the same token sudden failure, therefore raising interest in the characteristics of their life cycles. The article proposes a different approach to life-cycle analysis of airlines by integrating an ‘evolution path’ based on size classification with a ‘traditional life-cycle path’ that assumes two distinctive routes to failure. On the basis of a survey conducted among managers of new-entrant airlines in Europe and the USA, various factors were identified that showed significant differences between stages of evolution. The findings do support that new-entrant airlines have similar life-cycle characteristics as firms in general. 相似文献

Abstract. Trade integration has advanced far in East Asia whereas financial integration has been lagging. Important policy initiatives have, however, been taken. This process will eventually require further relaxation of cross-border capital controls, which in turn will make exchange rate stabilisation schemes more difficult to operate. These developments seem to run counter to the perceived need to promote intra-regional exchange rate stability in order to maintain trade integration. However, it would be risky to impose regional exchange rate stabilisation schemes over an indefinite period. Monetary union could still be a worthy objective, but near-term exchange rate stabilisation should not be part of the road map. 相似文献

We present a polynomial time method for identifying the maximal set in excess demand at a given payoff vector. This set can be used in “large” partnership formation problems to identify the minimum element in the set of individually rational payoff vectors at which there is no overdemanded set of agents.
